Hi there
Ms have made a commitment to android apps being able to run on W11 natively - currently that's basically just vapourware but I'm sure they will do it probably in the same sort of way as they've implemented a Linux kernel with the WSL. There are currently some emulators around but whether they work or not !!!!.

Android is a Linux /Unix based type of system so implementing a kernel shouldn't be a problem of mega proportions. However unlike Linux which is essentially open source android has a load of proprietary issues owned by google -- firms like Samsung etc pay Google quite a lot for licensing the OS to be used in their phones. I don't think Ms would relish the idea of paying Google a load of licensing money somehow.

A big problem also is that typical Android apps are touch screen driven - many laptops etc will have to use a mouse and some newer TV type monitors might be able to use the remote handset as well.

Ah well --perhaps everyone back to W8 again !!!!! since that OS seemed to assume a computer was just a "Big Mobile Phone".

Cheers

Android can be used by anyone who asks for license. Its open source and LED by Google. Only apps are close sourced, but wir Amazon's Store you may live without GApps. Only problem is that lots of apps need Google Services, but should work without them.

A big problem also is that typical Android apps are touch screen driven - many laptops etc will have to use a mouse and some newer TV type monitors might be able to use the remote handset as well.
Not exactly. Cos of TV platform you can easily work without touch support. And what difference is 3-dot or hamburger menu comparing to menu bar?

Good to know -- I must admit I haven't been keeping upwith Android deveopments of late -- if Google open it up that's brilliant.

I use this computer for photo/video editing and to track severe weather
Sounds like they are doing this to keep people from "pirating" APKs
Knowing they tried to do it with sAPKs (split APLs) and it didn't stop others to allow a West to install them without official store or installer, don't think aab will help against pirates... Arrrgh!
