Any solutions for the explorer.exe memory leak?

I read the article on 'PCGamer' and checked it out for myself.
Indeed, the more file explorer windows you open, the larger the memory load becomes (which is expected).
However, when you close all those windows the amount of memory being used remains the same and just keeps getting larger until you either force a restart of explorer.exe or reboot your PC.
Was hoping a program like 'Process Lasso' would have something to help here, but I haven't been able to find a solution.

Yeah, I've not noticed any memory leaks or problems either, and I've running Windows 11 on both a desktop and laptop.

You have a link to said article? Perhaps we can see what they're looking at?

I believe he is talking about an issue in the insider build which was there 3 months ago but it has been resolved

Ah, ok... I guess they needed to say something so why not harp on an old issue with a beta OS.

Thanks.

Here's a quick video of my screen capture - you can see that the only way to restore the memory is to restart the explorer service.
Just imagine how large this memory use could be during a full day of using the PC!
Brand new PC build (AMD 5800X, RTX 3080ti, 32GB DDR4 @3600Mhz, M.2 NVME etc), fresh install of 22000.194.

File was too large to attach so uploaded to my dropbox (highest quality the screen recorder would allow):

People post all sorts of things on the internet. Doesn't mean they're all true or even still applicable.

Anyway, I suspect those who don't want Windows 11 will find all sorts of reasons to justify their decisions so...

Except I'm seeing it with my own eyes - sorry the video quality is not great. let me upload a higher resolution - link in previous post changed.
I love Win 11, I want to find every reason to use it over Win 10!
No conspiracy here, same issue reported across multiple tech sites.

Yeah, well here I'm not seeing it here, but then again, I'm running a Dev build 22468.1000 on my 2017 Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga X1 laptop.

Oh, and as the saying goes... if the shoe fits, wear it, if not move on. We can also apply this to posts ;)

I'm also on AMD.
Quite bizarre that a fresh install on a new M.2 drive could produce different results from you, when it's the exact same ISO build that I got from this very site (UUP DUMP).
I hope they find a solution, pretty sure they will as it's being reported around the internet so they will want to resolve that quickly given it's a new launch and there's so many out there that want it to fail and the world would be linux users

strange case indeed .. maybe because I have debloated my windows 11 other than that I have no performance issues now.. I did make a post about it a few days back when I was having some issues but after I debloated its running smooth all my apps, games heck even 4 VMs on my machine but no performance issue and certainly not explorer

Well .. maybe MS made W11 lottery based .. bronze sample, silver sample, gold sample .. who knows who gets what :ROFLMAO:

Thank you Ruben!
I'm running 22000.258 so I guess I have to wait for the patch for AMD processors.
I saw the UU DUMP CU for this in another post (KB5006746 Windows 11 Insider Preview Beta and Release Preview Build 22000.282 - Oct. 15), but I guess that would have to be a full reinstall of the OS as the file size is over 3GB - I chose only my version - Win 11 Pro.
Or turn on insider Beta and Release Preview, but I really don't want to be on the insider program this early in the life of the OS as this is my main daily PC. Would be really nice if I could just install the KB without then having to also deal with further "insider KB's" that may make things worse?
I haven't noticed the system running much differently from Win 10, but this is a new PC with 5800X/3080ti - but my previous build was i7 8086K/3080 which should run Windows very similarly.

I can't wait to see what this machine feels like when I get back the "up to 30%" gaming performance loss" being talked about in tech articles!
I'm having no issues right now on this build that I can tell, but this build is supposedly hitting gaming performance hard for my processor?

I hear you.. I myself did not want to be on Insider/Beta rel. but this one by far for me has been an exception I never opted in for the insider and did not enable it thus however I did d/l and create the iso from uupdump and have been having a very pleasant "Windowy 11" experience thus far initially Premiere Pro could not use up all the 64 cores on the prev. builds of Windows 11 sometimes it (Premiere Pro) did and sometimes it did not. However with this build (22000.282) no such issues 'each and every' time I render a project it uses all the 64 cores no memory leak issues. I am very much satisfied with this build.. rest is up to AMD when they do release a patch let's see which side the cookie crumbles then.
