Any way to stop mouse going off screen when turning off 2nd monitor?

Hi, I have a system that I use for both personal and work.

When working, I use a 2nd monitor, and just want to leave this connected and don't want to keep plugging and unplugging it daily.

I am finding, when I turn the 2nd monitor off, my mouse still goes right off the screen as if it was still on.
Is there any way to set it so that when I turn it off, my system knows to fully stop the mouse going off screen?

Obviously, if I take the HDMI lead out the port out, it instantly stops.

I'm unable to test this at this moment, but memory says that it fixes this to choose the "Show only on 1" on the multiple displays drop-down list. Then when wanting to once again use both monitors, selecting "Extend these displays" on the drop-down list.

FWIW, this also seems to keep my Desktop Icons from phantomly creping over on to the other (off & non-visible) display.

altaylor is correct.
Switch display to the computer-only and only then turn the 2nd monitor off.
And turn the 2nd monitor back on before you switch to Extended display.

Switching can be done conveniently by using shortcuts to the built-in command rather than have to dive through the user interface.
Create a Display Switch shortcut - TenForumsTutorials
Shortcuts attached in a zipfile.
Name 1 PC display - Target field DisplaySwitch.exe /internal
Name 2 Duplicate displays - Target field DisplaySwitch.exe /clone
Name 3 Extend display - Target field DisplaySwitch.exe /extend
Name 4 External display - Target field DisplaySwitch.exe /external
and, not essential but sometimes of interest,
Name DisplaySwitch - Target field DisplaySwitch.exe
Name Settings, System, Display - Target field ms-settings:display

And if you ever need to, you can switch displays using just the keyboard without any of them being on i.e. when you cannot see your shortcuts.
