Anyone else notice that CoPilot slider for the New Tab Page in MSEdge

Was going to farm a question out to CoPilot today - via the new tab page in Edge - when I suddenly saw this




Did a little poking around and it seems that if you want CoPilot on the new Tab page - you now need to kick this slider:




Which gives you this:



You can kill off those tips easy enough - but if you want to do anything meaningful - you may have to actually have to sign-in to an MS account from the icon on the bottom left.

For me - I do not permit Edge to use any account sign (group policy) - so when I click on that box and choose an account - this goes no where.

Seems that if you actually want to use CoPilot and have it "remember" your stuff - in case you want to come back later - you will need to allow the browser to use your MS account - which I expect will be very hard to undo later.

If you already permit MS account sign-in - should be good go.

But a day ago - this



Was a Copilot icon and I could click it and whip right out to the Copilot site and do my thing - without every needing to sign INTO Edge.

I was fine signing into the Copilot site and then signing out after - but this is different now that that Copilot icon is gone.

I guess I need to shut this off and test going back to the Copilot "site" again...

EDIT - Just tested - turned that slider off and went here - manually (Microsoft Copilot: Your AI companion) Works fine.

Disaster averted.

I wish mine didn't either :)

You must have something extra enabled on your workstation. I have enabled as much Edge group policy as one man can - and I still cannot get rid of that goofy icon. When it was still the Copilot icon - it was the very last vestige of that tech within my eyesight.

Now that it is back to a Bing icon - I guess I can take that as a win.

However - I never use the mid screen box anyway - I still type everything into the address bar.

Old habits die hard...
