Anyone using a mechanical keyboard?

Here's my Ducky Shine 3. I've been using it non-stop since March 2023...





Getting a bit dusty.

Here is a 75% keyboard that I like. This is the Eweadn X75V2 keyboard. I still hate the fact that there is no PrtSc, Scroll, Pause, Home, or End key. At least on this keyboard, you can get all of those keys using Fn key combos like this:

Fn + I = PrtSc
Fn + O = Scroll
Fn + P = Pause
Fn + L = Home
Fn + ;: = End

My one wish would be that these legends would be printed on the keys, but I guess that would be difficult to fit, especially since the characters on this keyboard are on the front face.




Again, I understand that for gaming, this may be just fine. The problem is that I do some coding, work with XML files, etc. I need quick access to Home and End keys as well as PrtSc (Print Screen). Scroll Lock and Pause are not really needed by me, so at least I only have to remember 3 key combos. But if I switch to another keyboard, then I have to recall that it uses different combos while some simply have no provision at all.

But here is the problem: I wouldn't be as annoyed with this if I didn't already know that this is so easy to resolve. Take for example this Cherry XTRFY keyboard that is only a 68% keyboard but it omits absolutely nothing. The keys that require Fn key combos are all clearly marked. In fact, they took this so far that they even fit combos for mouse control (you can perform all mouse actions directly from the keyboard). I never use that, but it shows what is possible. Plus the backlighting is first rate.

This is the Cherry XTRFY K5 Pro TMR Compact, Magnetic Wired Gaming Keyboard (that's a mouthful). Remember, this is only a 68% KB that omits NOTHING:

I see, not all brands do the same set of keys at 75% (or even other percentages).

I'm also a Software Engineer by profession, so I'd probably stick with NuPhy 75 models since they do have those keys.

Mine is dusty and it has cat fur on it... cat. I use a lot of compressed air...

Mine came with brown switches that "offer a satisfying tactile bump without the loud click of blue switches". I can't seem to find the brown switch variety for sale anymore. I do NOT do "gaming", strictly for typing.

Mouser.com or digikey.com should carry the brown switches. Mouser carries all colors, but you may have to backorder the brown as they probably don't carry a lot of them in stock.

For searching at Mouser, type in "Cherry MX" (no quotes). There are a whole bunch of flavours there.

A reliable company, divinkey. Have used them a number of times.

I have brown switches too. I like the light tactile feel.

I'm actually good on switches. I was trying to say that I could not find any keyboards on their site that come pre-installed with Brown switches... But now that I look closer, I found the exact one that I purchased was this one with Brown switches:
