Apple releases iOS and iPadOS 26.4.1



 Apple Support:

Apple today released iOS 26.4.1 and iPadOS 26.4.1 software updates.

According to Apple's release notes, the software updates contain unspecified "bug fixes."

The updates do not include any security fixes, according to Apple's website.

I just bought a new basic iPad 11" for infrequent IT use. Setting it up remined me what a pain it is to setup Apple devices with many aspects locked down. I still have no idea whether documents stored 'On my iPad' are properly backed up.

Install Apple Devices on pc, and connect ipad to pc with a usb cable.
Run Apple Devices and backup ipad to pc.

By default, it backs up to C drive - you can redirect the backup directory to another drive using a junction link to save space on C drive as backup can get quite large..

Yes I already use iTunes for that but what is backed up is opaque.

Itunes is more or less same app (Apple Devices is a simpler subset of hhe Itunes app). It is effectively an image backup. Everything that is in Storage on tablet or phone is backed up.

I tested it once doing a restore (having separately backup critical data to iCloud in case things went wrong.

It recovered everything apart from a few settings - all apps and data.
