Are you happy with Windows 11


I am happy with windows 11 for the most part. I think 10 was better in some ways.

But honestly, I find that windows 11 does have a lot more bugs and issues than other windows versions used to have.

For now, It works for me and I don't need to fuss with it too much.

As for security, While there are issues with tpm, windows 11 is much more secure than any previous windows version by a mile.

lol Performance? Could you elaborate please. I sure haven't seen much in the way of gains there and I do have units that run legitimate versions of Win 11. Now back in the day of Win 95, Win 98, Win ME there were slight graduations of improvement until they released their Mistake Edition. Following that we see the advent of Win XP. Now that, IMO, was a real game changer. Comparing Win XP to those three predecessors amounted to a huge improvement in performance. That certainly fits my definition of impressive. I don't think we've really seen any improvement of that calibre in the way of performance since Windows 7. As I see it, the real performance improvements that have manifested since then are more hardware related for the most part. As for the security argument *cough* we both know security keys are still being stolen, no thanks to TPM2.

Can I get back with my opinion when 12 comes out? Then I might be a little more optimistic about 11. 🤣

Currently I am very happy with Windows 11. There are so many little features that I really miss whenever I'm forced to use 10. For example, being able to scroll on the speaker icon to change the volume is a game changer. Also having a native video recorder in Snipping Tool is a lifesaver especially when it comes to Tech support. I appreciate tabs and can't wait for the new improvements to arrive. Finally End Task in the taskbar is amazing!

I'm pretty sure those things can be enabled in Windows 10 as well. Snipping Tool has been around for a long time and scrolling the speaker was a Windows 8 option. End Task in taskbar is nothing new either.

Oh, I'm sure there are still a few of us around. As someone alluded to, the reason so many are "happy" with Windows 11 is because most of them are running "tweaked" versions that fly in the face of what Microsoft considers compliant. :cool:

I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
If im being 100% honest, i'd prefer the windows 7 ui over windows 11.

Lots of people on reddit don't know it either. I searched the net for hours and the best advice I found was to use a copy app or some hack that allowed the boxes to be checked by default.

This is what I have been going through since March. Little by little I find a solution, but the problems never seem to end.

I would be gutted if my pc looked or felt like tired boring and technically inferior (by a mile) Windows 7. Why people look at it through rose coloured glasses is so sad.

If it were to show any signs of slowing down under the weight of 'junk' accumulated through serial upgrades it would have done so by now. After more than a decade of upgrades it still feels like a fresh install.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, 1920x1080 touchscreen, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine. I honestly think the windows Aero experience in windows 7 looks better than the UI in windows 10 or 11 for the taskbar and such. Not everything, but I like the glass look. It feels more modern than the flat boring UI that we have now. But that's just me. Windows 7 was really stable, never had any issues with it.

I think windows 11 is good, but then 24h2 hit and there has been a lot of issues. But I liked windows 7 a lot. Sure some can be nostalgia but I fire it up in a VM every now and then and I still stand behind what I said. It just feels faster and looks good to boot. Windows 11 feels pretty bloated and runs slower than windows 10 on the same hardware.

Yes. I miss Aero too. When I boot back to 7 my cursor just glides so smoothly. My apps open so fast. There's none of the hesitation that comes so frequently with Win 11. My PC actually operates like the Octocore that it is. TBH I never did install Windows 10 on this 7-11 unit. Microsoft's custom key logger kind of put me off and I just didn't want to risk it even after a butcher job. The main issue with Win 10 was that so much surgery had to be done simply to keep ownership of your PC. It seems a shame that people have to make all these modifications just to have a decent operating system that isn't rife with bloatware and spyware. But like you already said, when you boot back to Win 7 you can really feel the difference.

I don't get any hesitation, I just get screen freezes, but no problem, my reset button is close by. :D

Have no fear. They'll have that fixed in the next critical update where you'll get a critical dose of re-activated One Drive and you'll have to go through all your settings all over again. At least Paint will work 50% of the time without freezing.
