I want to create an image backup of my C-drive: block-level, complete partition or drive backup. Has anyone got a recommendation for software to use? Preferably free and open source. Added detail: I backup to an external HD encrypted with Veracrypt. I mention this because Rescuezilla, for example, doesn't help in this case because it boots outside of Windows where I need to work because that's where I decrypt my drive.

Hi @eAtErEaK

Have you made a C-volume disk encryption with Veracrypt on a windows machine?
I have not tested that one :-)
As I'm still drinking my wake up juice(coffee), i need to think twice on everything and also the language.. i suck on swedish too before my coffee. *LOL*
I did miss it was the system drive you talked about in the other post.. I need my coffee bad. *LOL* :lmao:

so what would i do....
I never encrypt the system drive, as i never have sensitive/personal information on the system drive,.. and it is easier to troubleshoot when you dont have encryption..

It just hit me how you can decrypt the system and use clonezilla without need for sector by sector cloning.
You can make a Linux USB stick where you install Veracrypt and clonzilla on... That way you get full access to the windows system disk and can make a normal disk image that only image the data not the entire disk sector by sector

and if i should guide you on making a Linux stick.. Then i need two more coffee first to wake up.
