backup pst and ost outlook folders

Hello,

any good suggestions how to easily and automatically backup local pst and ost files from my Outlook Microsoft 365?
Unfortunately onedrive doesnt seem to take care of that.

I use this, have done for years. It still works with Outlook 2021 so I assume it will still work with Outlook 365. Look to the right of the page for “Latest” if you need help setting it up, hollar. It’s a small and un-intrusive add-on

Having said that, I only backup PST but I think it can do both, not sure, but fairly certain it does. When you install it, look for ”Backup” on the taskbar of Outlook. It will backup every time you close Outlook, or when you choose it to and to where you choose it to.
It’s easy to setup.





Setting the interval at 0 will cause it to backup every time you close Outlook.

Otherwise, FreeFileSync is an excellent, valuable software, and free. Best you read the forum first about backing up Outlook files. It can be done, but there are “open file” questions and queries to consider. But for everything else.. perfect.

Not a problem, you’re welcome.
However I am starting to wonder if this addon will backup ost as I don’t see the IMAP mail (ost) listed in the add-on screenshot.
But I am wondering if I change the directory my pst is saved to, into the ost folder, if it would then recognise all accounts. Unless you’re smart enough to add a script in the post back-up command line (if it’s even possible) I myself wouldn’t know where to even start with that.
There may be comments on this where the file is hosted at Github. I’ll look when I have more time.
