Hi everyone,

As far as I can tell, everything seems to be working fine on my VM, but I get really bad audio, it is stuttering. But I need audio.
My PC is running on Windows 11 Home, AMD Ryzen 7, RAM 16GB.

Oracle Virtualbox 7.0
VM - Guest: Windows 11, 4 GB RAM, 4 CPU cores

I tried 2 – 8 CPU cores, no change
I tried 2 – 8 GB RAM too, no change
Grafik-Controller: VBoxSVGA
TPM-Typ: v2.0
Enable 3D Acceleration is on

Audio settings : Windows DirektSound ( I tryed Stadard and Windows Audio Session too)
Audio Controller: Intel HD Audio (with ICH AC97 or SoundBlaster 16 no sound at all)
Chipsatz: PIIX3 (with ICH9 no change)
Virtualbox Guest Addtitions are installed
Hyper V is switched off

Do anyone have an idea where the problem is and how I could fix it?

Thanks!

First does the audio on the HOST sound OK -- test that first. --once that's OK then try the various sound options on VBOX. ICH6 or ICH9 should work with INTEL / HDMI digital audio output. Problem won't be CPU - Audio is a trivial user of CPU cycles. Another solution for sound on a VM --depending on what you want the sound for - is to get a very cheap USB->Audio dongle - and install the driver on the VM. AC97 works for XP VM's and I've no idea about SB emulation.

If you can it might be possible to emulate a different chipset too in the VM config, I'm using a LINUX Host and I've found for W11 guests for INTEL based chipsets is Q35 - but I haven't used VBOX for years .

Thanks Jimbo for your reply. Yes, on the HOST the audio is working. I tried yesterday with VMware and there the sound on my VM is working really good.

Hi there
That then says to me the "Virtual Sound" hardware on the VBOX system is either not working or you've got the wrong one. Sometimes it's possible to manually edit VM config files if the options don't appear in a GUI. You could google to see what one to use. It's obviously not a "Real physical" hardware problem as the host works perfectly as you said.
