I downloaded "ImageClass" but it was only a trial.

What is the best image viewer for Windows 11 (free and ad-free) ?
I don't like "Paint" that comes with Windows 11

I still use Picasa...,
the Picasa Library is still feature rich, but the standalone viewer is still lite and simple.

I used to use Picasa ... until all my personal photos turned up through a public Google search, based on the file (re)names I had labelled them.

I use FastStone Image Viewer
Although there are some aspects of it that needs improvement, I still am a satisfied user.
I tried XnView, IrfanView but both failed in integrate it successfully with my scanner. The output of the scan is inverted (don't know why), but not FastStone.

It is mature and keeps being updated few times a year.

I think this thread would have been better in the Apps and Software section of the forum.
I went looking for it, and couldn't find it at first.

What I like about FastStone Image Viewer is that it's very light and doesn't need any addons. It also supports JPEG comments out of the box.

Another thing is that it works well with its sister program, FastStone Capture. You'll find the Draw Board in FastStone Image Viewer and FastStone Capture is basically the same.

BTW. normally I use it in Dutch language, but as the language is selectable in a very simple way, I temporarily switched over to English. That's different from other apps like StartAllBack, where the system language automatically is taken over. Nothing really to worry about, but when in this forum I like to post some screenshots, I have to look for all the English words for the functions and edit the image before I post it here...

FastStone are very good at making their software very simple to use.
If you're a FastStone user, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

If you want something more akin to photoshop --with layers, curves. white balance etc I'd suggest the GIMP (or GNU image manipulation program). Runs identically on Linux and windows -- same interface. OK it's more complex as it's almost as good as photoshop but really good if you like photography with real DSLR's and not just instagram mobile phone snaps.

I did !!! Quite deliberately and knowing full well what was required. Subsequently checked constantly, but ... there they were - new ones as added and all. I even added test ones with (false) obscure place names .... next Google search, Voila !!!

Trust Google ? .... Nuh uh !!

EDIT Admittedly it was a few years ago, they may have got their act together but it has happened once ... but I went into Symantec mode : Never to be trusted again !!!
