Is there any way to avoid the attempt by Microsoft to send you to their store for "verified" apps> We have to go to prperties and unblock for every program we install. It seems uneccessary and a bit shady. Hopefully there is a way to avoid that....Thanks

Well...the least Microsoft can do is put a notice up on their blocking page indicating how to unblock non-Microsoft verified programs.
I had to fish around for a while before figuring it out... as it is new to Win 11.

Oh, okay. Yes, that exists in Windows 10 too, but it's a rarely seen. By default it's set to allow app installs from anywhere. You must be an administrator to change the setting, although it normally does take you to the Settings/Apps screen when you click Change my app recommendation settings even if you are a standard user.

Are you an Administrator or Standard user? Is this PC managed (i.e. company owned)?

What options do you see when you go to Settings/Apps/Advanced app settings?

Do you see the option Choose where to get apps?

If you're an administrator and there's no GPO blocking access to the option, you should see this:
