Thunderbird 155.0.1: Play Sound in message filters disabled?

Hi, all --

I have my TBird filters (v155.0.1) set up to play a sound when mail from a client come in (specified in each filter for each client). Used to be able to choose the sound. Now there's no option to choose a sound and no sound plays. And obviously I don't want a sound for all incoming mail or it would be bonging at me all day long. I just want to respond to clients in a timely manner while I'm also focusing on work.

IIRC this option was gone for a while, and so I used various extensions that gradually became outdated: Tonequilla, FiltaQuilla, Mailbox Alert, and (most recently) SoundMail. I installed SoundMail about a week ago and I suspect that it borked my TBird installation, because suddenly TBird refused to open and when I finally got back in, I removed the extension and no more problems. I've asked about this in the Mozilla forums and so far no responses.

But I really want my "you've got mail from a client" sound back! Any ideas?

Failing a solution in TBird, are there any other mail clients with robust features, including message filters that can play a sound for specific mail? (I'm currently using POP but am considering moving to IMAP.)

Thanks much!
