Blurry ALT tab previews for MS Office 2021 Apps when not in desktop focus

hi,

Something quite bizarre, just updated all apps on my new Win11 and noticed this one:

When you open something in excel, let's say you have other apps open, then you switch to them, then do ALT + TAB, then the preview that appears in the tab views (while you press ALT+TAB) is blurry.

However, if you go to the Desktop, with Win+D and then do ALT+tab again it looks fine only that time. Then if you are in excel and do again ALT + TAB blurry again.

fun fact: this only happens for Office apps (excel, word, etc), all other apps are fine all the time. Or is it like a "privacy" feature?

Anyone else noticed this? I have office 2021.

it's really hard to capture, you cannot do capture screen while you press alt + tab and if i picture it with the phone it isn't good... to see what i mean, open excel, type in font like 72 or something. Then go to desktop, win+D. Do alt tab, keep it there and see how the excel preview looks like.

Now open something else, explorer, etc, and do it again, see how the text in Excel's preview looks like. For me this second time, the edges of the fonts are not smooth - not a HUUGE deal but shouldn't it look always the same? Only office apps.

bingo! That's it!!! (one day you'll tell me how you managed to screen capture, while pressing ALT tab hehe)..

100% same as mine. Ok i am not the only one then. Starting to think Win10 was really good lol

Could be something to do with the minimized state of the app..., Office is often quirky that way!

hi all - did anyone ever solve it? is it some Nvidia setting perhaps? doing some heavy work on excel today and lot of ALT TAB and makes me dizzy for good!

Where's the proof the feedback is read and acted upon? You see this with a lot of sites that waste huge resources with that kind of process and github where hundreds of reports sit idly for years on end. I've looked through feedback and everything has no read receipts by Microsoft techs. And...

Been some time - does your Office 2021 still does the blurry ALT+tab thing? it's been 6 months. I've let Microsoft know but i have doubts they'll do anything lol -> Reported since 6 months: Blurry ALT tab previews for Word2021 and all MS Office 2021 Apps

Could it be specific to NVIDIA? I am on an RTX 4070

have you ever been able to solve this? I am still trying reporting to MS and Nvidia from time to time, yet still no change.

There was one user here on this reddit thread which told me he managed to fix it with a different driver but a bit unclear still, in case you want to read ->
