Hi All,

Before 25H2 I would rarely on starting up the desktop in the morning it would go right into Windows 11 without giving me the Boot Menu to choose from. I have noticed since the 25H2 update the Boot Menu must have been disabled because even on restart I boot into Windows 11 every time. Just curious if anyone else noticed this happening since the update?

Hi Scramjet,

I have a dual boot system and just did a clean install of Windows 11 Pro 25H2 next to Windows 10 Pro. I have not experienced what you have described. I get the boot menu each time I start or restart my machine.

My laptop has always booted to Windows. I have been running Windows 11 since December 2021. I updated from 24H2 to 25H2 about 3 weeks ago. I have not noticed any difference in booting. While I only reboot when there are updates, I have never seen the boot menu.

My Windows 10 desktop is the same way. Rebooted only after updates.

If you only have one drive and that is your OS then you don't need the Boot Menu enabled. If you have several OS on installed drives then a Boot Menu is useful. I have a new installation of Windows 11 Pro on my main M.2 drive. I also have a older version of Windows 11 Pro with some software that I am testing on it. Also Windows 10 Pro on another drive,

Maybe it is just a glitch on my system. I just wanted to see if anyone else noticed this before I see if it will enable later. Thank you both for the replies though.

Ok so this is weird. today this desktop decided to show the boot menu each time i rebooted or booted from cold start. Maybe it was the WU I got yesterday. I am going to have to mark as 'solved' and watch for it again. Thanks to all the replies.

glad its working. if the boot menu every doesnt show for some reason... you can use msconfig to make sure its enabled and which OS is default
