Hi.

after updating last week to 24H2 26.100.6899 my Brother printer and scanner stopped working and was unreachable via WiFi. Uninstalling the updates did not help. After a lot of fiddling and system freezing managed to uninstall and reinstall the big Brother W11 driver package including Brother Utilities CommandCenter4.
The printer was partly accessable but the CC4 scanner link is broken completely. Installing and reinstalling and sfc and dism did not help.
After hours I've tried windows app iPrint and other scan tools. Now I'm using NAPS2 VIA driver which is working astonishly well. There are long threads on Microsoft about failing scanners. Maybe the advice installing manually via Device Manager -> Update driver -> Browse for drivers on your computer -> Let me pick from a list ... helped regaining the scanner functionality via WiFi. I still don't know how the printer managed access to my wireless network.

Update:
Though obviously nobody in this forum uses a Brother MFC printer and scanner I don't want to withhold the revival of my scanner.
There is the new Brother firmware update dated 28.01.2026. After updating I've used the updated Deinstallations Software dated 21.01.2026. Restart.
Installed the Full Driver & Software Package including the oldfashioned but working Controll Center 4.
The procedure went fast and flawlessly.

Problem solved.

[Strange, cannot find an Edit button here.]
Solution: EDIT did not show up because of my extensions and scripts. Disabled them and the buttons now appear at the bottom.
But why is Edit only available for such a short time? Cannot edit my post from 11:15 AM. This is causing a lot of useless traffic in my view.

Did some web search.
Furthermore as the scanner is not listed under Devices and Printer I've changed the Windows Image Acquisition Service to Automatic. Added my Printer as a new device under Devices and Printers. Installed. Made it Default Printer. Deleted the old printer. The scanner is now showing up in the context menu. Good.
