The Issue

I am experiencing consistent Windows crashes while gaming or under heavy GPU load (specifically in Forza Horizon 6) on my Acer Nitro V 15 ANV15-51. The laptop features an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU running driver version 566.36.

Every crash results in a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (0x133) blue screen.

WinDbg consistently points to the NVIDIA driver:
Code:
nvlddmkm.sys
0x133_ISR_nvlddmkm!unknown_function
nvlddmkm+cda03
PROCESS_NAME: System

These crashes occur across multiple NVIDIA driver versions. I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:
  • Performed a clean Windows reinstall
  • Used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) for a clean driver installation
  • Tested with an external monitor
  • Disabled the integrated GPU (iGPU)
  • Applied power/D3 registry tweaks

Findings & Observations

  • On Pop!_OS Linux, I ran Unigine Heaven for over an hour without any crashes.
  • The Windows crashes still occur even when using dGPU-focused configurations.
  • Running powercfg /a shows that Modern Standby (S0) is not supported; only S3 sleep is available.
  • Because the GPU runs fine under Linux, a completely dead GPU or thermal issue seems less likely.

I currently suspect the issue might be related to:
  • An interaction between Windows, NVIDIA WDDM, and the driver
  • Acer EC/firmware behavior
  • A PCIe, power-management, or interrupt handling issue specific to Windows

I have attached my minidumps here: Google Drive: Sign-in

ANYONE Please help me i have been trying to troubleshoot for months and have reinstalled windows many times including clean wipes

Welcome to the forum. While I agree that the crashes are pointing to nvidia, I suggest that you also install the latest bios dated 4/21/26 as well as latest chipset drivers dated 1/30/26 if you have not already done so. The latest driver version for the RTX 4050 for that device on Acer site is 31.0.15.4618 (1/12/24) Did you try that driver?
@zbook will analyze your logs and get back to you.

Some findings:

The two day installation logs reported problems related to:

a) BSODs related to the Nvidia GPU with different driver versions

b) Drive file system corruption

(Windows 11 Home Single Language 64-bit (10.0, Build 26200) (26100.ge_release.240331-1435))
