BSOD Inaccessible Boot Device (clone)

Hi.

I am switching from an old laptop to a newer laptop. My old laptop uses a 2.5" SSD and the new one uses an NVME drive. I cloned the old drive to the new drive but when I try to boot it, I get the “Inaccesible Boot Device" BSOD.

Before anyone says I can't clone a a drive and use it on new hardware....that's not true. I've done it probably 20 times. They boot and install the new drivers automatically.

However, mine looks like it can't find boot files or something. Can anyone help?

Some trial and error BIOS steps:

AHCI > IDE > AHCI

VMD > on > off

I don't have those settings in my bios.

Please boot to the BIOS > open menu options > take pictures > post images or share links

if you still have the old SSD fully intact you can wipe the new NVMe drive and re-attempt the clone.

We've seen a number of posts about cloned drives having boot issues in a different device. It can be caused by mismatch of boot mode in the bios (ahci vs raid), mismatch of MBR vs UEFI in bios, the BCD store may need to be rebuilt, BCD may be written to wrong drive (when multiple drives are installed,) a bad clone, a bad disk.
I'm sure there are other reasons I'm not thinking of.

Different bios are different in the way those options appear in the bios.
