Installation and Upgrade Bypass Windows 11 System Requirements

This tutorial will show you how to bypass the Windows 11 CPU, RAM, Secure Boot, storage, and TPM 2.0 system requirements allowing you to upgrade to Windows 11 from a Windows 10 PC that doesn't meet these requirements.

Installing Windows 11 on a device that does not meet Windows 11 minimum system requirements is not recommended. If you choose to install Windows 11 on ineligible hardware, you should be comfortable assuming the risk of running into compatibility issues.

If you like, you can bypass the check for TPM 2.0 (at least TPM 1.2 is required) and the CPU family and model.

Trusted Platform Module (TPM) technology is designed to provide hardware-based, security-related functions. A TPM chip is a secure crypto-processor that helps you with actions such as generating, storing, and limiting the use of cryptographic keys.

A processor or central processing unit (CPU), is the electronic circuitry within a computer that carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic, logic, controlling, and input/output (I/O) operations specified by the instructions.

Windows 11 minimum system requirements:

Processor1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC).
RAM4 gigabyte (GB).
Storage64 GB or larger storage device Note: See below under “More information on storage space to keep Windows 11 up-to-date” for more details.
System firmwareUEFI, Secure Boot capable. Check here for information on how your PC might be able to meet this requirement.
TPMTrusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0. Check here for instructions on how your PC might be enabled to meet this requirement.
Graphics cardCompatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver or higher.
DisplayHigh definition (720p) display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per color channel.

Your device might malfunction due to these compatibility or other issues. Devices that do not meet these system requirements will no longer be guaranteed to receive updates, including but not limited to security updates.

This PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for running Windows 11 - these requirements help ensure a more reliable and higher quality experience. Installing Windows 11 on this PC is not recommended and may result in compatibility issues. If you proceed with installing Windows 11, your PC will no longer be supported and won't be entitled to receive updates. Damages to your PC due to lack of compatibility aren't covered under the manufacturer warranty.


Before you install Windows 11
If you are unsure if your device meets the Windows 11 minimum system requirements and have Windows 10 already installed, you can download the PC Health Check app, which will assess eligibility and identify components of your device that don't meet the minimum requirements. The app will also link to info that details steps you can take to make your device meet the minimum system requirements.

After you install Windows 11
If you're experiencing issues after upgrading to Windows 11 and your device does not meet the minimum system requirements, we recommend you go back to Windows 10. This option is only available for 10 days following your upgrade, after which time the files needed to perform this function will be removed to free up disk space on your device.

3 Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

4 When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

5 You can now delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.

I went ahead today and installed Win11 on my 6700K Z170 system.
It went smooth as silk, except for the bullsh!t default bloat that showed up after and having to redo my whole start menu again.
Other than that, and cleaning up after it was a success,

One really great thing is, I use my Samsung 50" Crystal UHD 4K TU7179 (2020) HDR10+ tv as a monitor for it, and the new HDR settings with the new calibration app works much better. Ther is much less difference between SDR and HDR content than on Windows 10.

Hello everyone, new here :}
Just seeking some advice. I'm going to be doing a CLEAN install on a Asus ROG G20CB. It meets all requirements except CPU. Since its not an update install, how do I bypass the CPU check only?

Method 1: Rufus. I get conflicting impressions that it does and doesn't do the CPU bypass? Will this work with clean install? And, regardless of the other system requirements Rufus bypasses but in my case does not need to, is it safe to assume that if even though the check bypassed TPM/Secure that it will utilize them and work normally because the requirements are actually met (part of my system)?

Method 2: Use unmodified ISO from MS and then perform one of two scripts/reg to bypass the CPU check only?
A. Bypass Windows 11 CPU and TPM Requirements (Microsoft Official Method) per instructions at:

Not sure if this is an "Upgrade" method only?
B. Also from beebom.com under section titled "Additional Steps to Bypass Windows 11’s CPU Requirement", except that I will boot from USB flash drive with an unmodified ISO from Microsoft.

Which method should I proceed with? Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks!

This document describes how to install Windows 11 on systems that do not technically meet the Windows 11 hardware requirements. Before we even begin, I would like to point out that there are other methods not covered here to accomplish this task. For example, the "Rufus" utility can create installation media to allow for installation on unsupported hardware. However, the goal with this document is to provide methods to install Windows 11 without the need for any third-party utilities.


********************************
* CLEAN INSTALLATION PROCEDURE *
********************************

IMPORTANT: Be sure to read both PART 1 and PART 2 below. Part 1 describes how to bypass the initial Windows hardware requirements. Part 2 describes how to create a local user account and bypass the need to login with a Microsoft account later on in the installation.

***************************************************************************************************
* PART 1 - This section describes how to bypass the initial hardware requirements for Windows 11. *
***************************************************************************************************

Note: All methods below have the same goal, which is to set registry entries in Windows PE to bypass the Windows setup requirements. This will NOT affect the final installation of Windows. It only affects the registry entries of Windows PE which is loaded in memory during setup. As soon as the first reboot during installation occurs, these registry entries are lost, having already served their purpose.

****************************************************
* Method 1 - Using an Autounattend.xml Answer File *
****************************************************

Note: The answer file provided here does nothing except to bypass the Windows 11 system requirements.

If you want to create an answer file on your own, these are the steps to include the entries that bypass Windows 11 system requirements.

Create a new answer file or modify an existing answer file with the following entries:

Add the component Microsoft Windows Setup\RunSynchronos\RunSynchronousCommand to Pass 1 windowsPE.

Set the following values:

Order: 1
Path: reg add HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig /v BypassTPMCheck /t reg_dword /d 0x00000001 /f

Repeat the above steps 4 more time (for a total of 5 "RunSynchronousCommand" entries) with the following entries:

Order: 2
Path: reg add HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig /v BypassSecureBootCheck /t reg_dword /d 0x00000001 /f

Order: 3
Path: reg add HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig /v BypassRAMCheck /t reg_dword /d 0x00000001 /f

Order: 4
Path: reg add HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig /v BypassStorageCheck /t reg_dword /d 0x00000001 /f

Order: 5
Path: reg add HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig /v BypassCPUCheck /t reg_dword /d 0x00000001 /f

* Method 2 - Manually Modify the Registry for Windows Setup *
*************************************************************

Begin installation of Windows from your installation media. At the first static screen where Windows setup requests information from you during setup, press SHIFT + F10 to open a command prompt.

Type regedit and hit ENTER. Add the following entries:

HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig BypassTPMCheck reg_dword 0x00000001
HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig BypassSecureBootCheck reg_dword 0x00000001
HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig BypassRAMCheck reg_dword 0x00000001
HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig BypassStorageCheck reg_dword 0x00000001
HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig BypassCPUCheck reg_dword 0x00000001

Close the Registry Editor and the command prompt. Continue installation normally.

* Method 3 - Using a .reg file *
********************************

Create a file with the extension .reg. Place the following text between the bars (----) into that file. Don't include the "----" lines.

Navigate to the drive letter where the .reg file is located and then run it. You can run it by simply typing the name of the file and pressing <ENTER>. Close the command prompt and continue installation of Windows as usual.

* Method 4 - Using a Batch File *
*********************************

Create a text file with the extension .bat. Example: Bypass.bat. Place the following six lines in that file:

Navigate to the drive letter where the .bat file is located and then run it. You can run it by simply typing the name of the file and pressing <ENTER>. Close the command prompt and continue installation of Windows as usual.

* Part 2 - This section describes how to create a local account duning installation and *
* bypass the requirement to logon with a Microsoft account in Windows 11 Pro. *

* If you have a network connection *
************************************

When you reach the screen where you have a choice to "Set up for personal use" or "Set up for work or school", select "Set up for work or school" and click on "Next".

On the next screen, select "Sign-in options", then "Domain join instead". Don't worry, we are not joining a domain!

On the next screen, supply the local user name that you want to create and then continue through setup as normal.

*********************************************
* If you do NOT have an Internet connection *
*********************************************

When you reach the screen where Windows wants to connect you to a network to create a local user account, press SHIFT + F10 to open a command prompt, and then run "OOBE\BypassNRO". The system will reboot. After rebooting, you will start back up at the screen asking you to select the correct keyboard layout. When you get back to the "Let's connect you to a network" screen, you will have an option to select "I don't have internet". Choose that option. On the next screen, select "Continue with limited setup". Enter your local user account name, and then continue with setup as usual.

**********************************
* UPGRADE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE *
**********************************

* Method 1 *
************

When installing Windows 11 as an upgrade, Windows will make use of the file \sources\appraiserres.dll to determine the system requirements for installation. To bypass the system requirements, you can replace that file with a fake appraiserres.dll file.

Delete or rename the original \sources\appraiserres.dll file on your installation media. Replace the file that you deleted or renamed with a fake appraiserres.dll. You could simply create a text file and rename it to appraiserres.dll. If you prefer, you could also just grab the appraiserres.dll from a Windows 10 distribution.

You can now run setup from the root of the installation media to begin an upgrade install.

* Method 2 *
************

NOTE: If you follow the steps in method 1, you do not need to follow the steps outlined in method 2.

You can bypass just the TPM 2.0 and supported CPU requirements for an upgrade installation by making the following change to the registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup]
"AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU"=dword:00000001

You can make this into a .REG file if you wish. Then, simply double-click that file to merge the contents into the registry. If you want to do this, open notepad, paste in the following lines between the "----" lines (not including those lines), and save it to a file with a .REG extention, then double-click that file to make the registry change:

NOTE: This registry setting bypasses the need for a supported CPU and a TPM 2.0 but a TPM 1.2 would still be needed. If you still do not meet this requirement, then please follow the steps in method 1 instead.

I used your download and also patched an iso with rufus myself and did the diy tutorials to no avail. Is this not possible anymore with new Win 11 updates? Im trying to upgrade Win 10 to Win 11. Or will it only work with clean install. Thanks a lot!

You don't need to use RuFus to patch it (even though there's no option not ah ha) It's already done. I think the upgrade would work but nevertheless the clean install is preferred

Edit: you extract the files and run the setup or mount the iso as windows 10 provides to upgrade

Interesting, but after a reboot, Win 10 Update still has the warning. See my System Specs.
I have Win 11 Pro on another drive with Win 10 as my usual OS, I find it far easier on the nerves, installed using Rufus, so I guess the question is
what does Rufus do that's different from this .reg file?

There is a status bar near the bottom right. You can see what's going on. When the bypass functions begins I see some files being removed or edited plus SOME .DLL added or edited

One really great thing is, I use my Samsung 50" Crystal UHD 4K TU7179 (2020) HDR10+ tv as a monitor for it, and the new HDR settings with the new calibration app works much better. Ther is much less difference between SDR and HDR content than on Windows 10.

Game mode on that model doesn't support 4k @ 120hz so ima say 60hz, But activating game mode on it adds a whopper of 9.7ms

Too many get caught up on response times. Personally, I think that's more a sales pitch than an actual issue (well maybe dependent on content). My 24-inch NEC PA242W has a response time of 8ms. Never once did/does it affect my gaming experience. That said, I mainly play FPS and RPG. NEVER an issue. Perhaps if I played racing games, it "might" but be, but...

Anyway, I've had this monitor since 2014, and though I am hard core gamer, I got it for my photography first, gaming second. Meaning I never gave the rated response time a second thought. It was all about the color accuracy. This is a wide gamut monitor.

I had a Asus mobo which only had a TPM 1.2 and a non-approved CPU. I found a TPM 2.0 for my mobo which was seen correctly, so I went ahead with the MS advice to add the AllowUpgradesWith UnsupportedTPMOrCPU registry entry. That did not allow installation from the installation assistant, but after a few days the upgrade appeared in Win Update and it worked fine. No problems so far!
