Calendar in taskbar issues

We just upgraded at work so I am very limited in what I can install for productivity, ( for example I can't install Rainlendar like I had on Windows 10 because my boss is convinced it's a virus that will slow down the entire network, but of course I can't get the stupid calendar widget to show on the desktop by itself, and even if I could, it opens Outlook every time so it's pretty useless to me for just at a glance stuff ) and now I find that clicking on the date and time in bottom right brings up every notification I don't care about rather than the calendar, which I use just to see a damn month calendar.
Can someone tell me how to just see the calendar when I click on time and date without every notification showing instead?? Thanks.

Open the Mail app and on bottom left open Calendar and pin it to taskbar



or from the start list.

If you only need the calendar popup then turn off all notifications, or leave any you need, in settings.
