Can't disable Hyper-V

I have been using WSL2, and I want to go back to VirtualBox. The problem is Hyper-V, which when enabled makes VirtualBox unbearably slow. I can't disable Hyper-V. I tried disabling it from "Turn Windows features on or off", I tried by Powershell, but it stays on.

The funny thing is when I first went into "Turn Windows features on or off", I saw that Hyper-V was unticked. But it obviously was on, because I was running WSL2. So I ticked it to turn it on, rebooted, then unticked it, then rebooted, but it remained on.

For WSL2, you only actually need a subset of the Hyper-V platform which is called Virtual Machine Platform.

You can disable virtual machine platform when you want to use VirtualBox with the following command from the command line or powershell.
dism.exe /online /disable-feature /featurename:VirtualMachinePlatform /norestart

You can re-enable virtual machine platform if you wish to use WSL2 again.
dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:VirtualMachinePlatform /all /norestart

A restart IS REQUIRED, after the command. The /norestart on the command just means that the command won't do it automatically, but you will have to manually do it to utilize the feature you want.

WSL and Hyper-V are two different things. What are your computer specs? Is it powerful enough to run VirtualBox?

I tried turning that off but Virtualbox was still super slow

I have a i7, ninth gen, with 16 GB of Ram. I had no problem before running VirtualBox. But now I can't even get a Windows XP guest to finishing booting.

Did you reboot with it turned off? A restart is required.

You should also be able to turn off and turn on hyper-V functionality with the following commands, followed by a reboot.

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto
