Solved Can't remove icon arrows in select icons

Your images show that you have used 48GB of onedrive storage space. I don’t know why you would want to turn off syncing if you use onedrive, all for the sake of removing a green tick on your icons? I would advise you to follow Brinks tutorials, don’t worry about the method I use. But if you value the files in the storage you have used, I’d be careful.

At this point because of the fact you actually use that storage space, I don’t want to feel responsible for your losing anything important. Follow the tutorials from Brink or wait for someone smarter than I am.

The settings to change are in that screenshot you posted. You should have to use only one tutorial which tells you what to change.

Once you move all your files back to this PC as per the tutorial, to stop onedrive from autostarting open task manager. Select startup apps.
Find onedrive.exe in the list, right click on it, select disable.
The next ime the PC is restarted onedrive will not autostart.

The cloud icon is where the screenshots came from. I clicked on it, then settings.

Those screenshots were from the cloud icon on the right side of the taskbar, not the regular icon. Clicked the cloud, clicked settings, and there's my screenshots.

Right click/settings ?

This is what I see when I right click on the cloud icon and select settings (btw I did manage to unlink my account).

That’s weird. We are running the same version of Win11. And I literally did this 2 days ago,

I thought they vanished after you stop syncing.

Still there after another reboot.

Then I would suggest that your desktop is still syncing, because everything `i have read says the arrows automatically remove when you stop syncing.

Try rebuilding?

Yeah, that would be an indication that you’re not connected. Did you try flushing the icon cache, @rzn6jw ?

Yup, did that, too. Another funny thing, I was playing Elden Ring for a couple hours and when I quit the game, the green arrows were there, then the screen sort of blinked, and the green arrows were gone, so I don't know what is going on. So far they still are gone so I'll see what the desktop looks like in the morning.

OK, now this is getting really, really stupid. The blasted green arrows are back this morning. There must be a registry key somewhere that keeps turning the #$@%^%&^ things on. Anyone know where this is so I can turn it off permanently?
