Captchca getting more obnoxious?

Is it just me? Everytime I want to open up another (Firefox) browser tab, I get a message about too much traffic coming from my web address. Then I have to complete one of those silly "click on all the pictures with bicycles" type messages. For me the issue that is no matter how carefully I try, I am presented with more and more challenges. Today I counted 11 such challenges before Google (I guess)allowed me to access the web page I wanted. So what are the issues here?

I haven't seen this in a long time and I only use Firefox.
Do a Google AI search on "why numerous Captchas in a row".
it lists a few reasons that can cause it and some things you can do.
Common Causes

  • Suspicious IP Address: A shared IP (from your ISP or VPN) might be used by many bots, or your IP has a poor reputation, triggering security.
  • Browser Extensions: Ad-blockers, privacy tools, or SEO add-ons can interfere with CAPTCHA scripts.
  • Malware/Bots: A malicious program on your computer could be making automated requests in the background.
  • Network Activity: Rapid searches, accessing sites from unusual locations, or other users on your network behaving like bots.
  • Browser Issues: Outdated browser, corrupted cache, or cookies can cause problems.
  • What to Do
    • Clear Browser Data: Clear cache and cookies.
    • Disable Extensions: Turn off browser add-ons temporarily.
    • Scan for Malware: Run an antivirus scan.
    • Restart Router: Get a new IP address.
    • Disable VPN/Proxy: Temporarily turn off your VPN.
    • Try a Different Browser/Device: See if the issue persists
If it was caused by outdated browsers I would get them all the time but I always get through on the first try

    The only thing it lack is USB-3.2 on the front face but it has 3.0 on the back

I've never gotten one of those captchas for too much traffic.

For what site? I see those once in a blue moon for specific sites, but I haven't seen one in weeks. There's plenty of traffic from my Internet connection, half a dozen computers and a file server for my grandson who's in another state.

I'm with the OP when it comes to those Google reCAPTCHA things, they're downright annoying and coming from Google it wouldn't surprise me if they're meant to be irritating by design.

Yes they are getting more obnoxious.

I fully understand the principle behind using Cloudfare, but the thing is Cloudfare can be also a single-point-of-failure and all it takes is for some of the bad guys to disrupt or bring it down and there goes 20-25% of the internet in one fell swoop.

Not good :(

I have seen these happen because the home router gets infected with malware, as well as being flagged when in an apartment complex depending on the internet set up. Someone does something shady and the whole place becomes marked.

i hate all captcha's, evil stupid, horrible they often don't work properly are poorly designed.. 2 choices continue or play the stupid game.

Comcast is based mainly in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They serve 40 states. I had Comcast for 5 years in the Los Angeles area til I got Time Warner and then I got Verizon Fios which was sold to Frontier but is now being given back to Verizon . . . :dizzy:
