MediaTek Pressroom:
LAS VEGAS, Nevada – January 5, 2026 – Positioned at the forefront of wireless technology, MediaTek today introduced the Filogic 8000 family at CES 2026. This groundbreaking suite of products will spearhead the Wi-Fi 8 ecosystem, representing MediaTek's leadership in advancing wireless connectivity. This upcoming technology will deliver ultra-high reliability across a diverse array of product categories, including gateways (broadband gateways, enterprise access points) and client solutions (smartphones, laptops, TVs, streaming devices, tablets, and IoT devices), and will enhance a wide variety of AI-driven products and applications.
As more connected devices are introduced, the wireless environment is becoming crowded and prone to interference, resulting in unstable connections and slow response times. Reliable Wi-Fi performance is essential to ensure seamless operation, and Wi-Fi 8 is engineered specifically to meet these requirements, delivering robust connectivity and low-latency responsiveness for demanding scenarios, many of which leverage AI technologies. Users will also benefit from better bandwidth, improved power efficiency and optimized connectivity, all leading to a superior user experience.
Wi-Fi 8 is designed to meet the demands of modern digital and AI-driven environments. Its innovations span four strategic categories:
- In multi-AP coordination, features like Coordinated Beamforming (Co-BF), Coordinated Spatial Reuse (Co-SR), and Multi-AP Scheduling (MAP) enable access points to work together intelligently, reducing interference and improving overall efficiency.
- In spectrum efficiency and coexistence, technologies such as Dynamic Subband Operation (DSO) Non-Primary Channel Access (NPCA), and In-Device Coexistence (IDC) help devices share crowded spectrum more effectively.
- For coverage and range, Wi-Fi 8 introduces Enhanced Long Range (ELR) and Distributed-Tone Resource Unit (dRU), which dramatically improve AI performance by increasing uplink performance and reducing latencies, as well as seamless roaming to ensure stable connections even at the network edge.
- In latency and reliability optimization, features like smarter data rate adaptation and Aggregated PPDU (APPDU) deliver consistent, low-latency performance critical for real-time applications such as XR, cloud gaming, and industrial automation. Together, these advancements make Wi-Fi 8 a scalable, robust, and future-ready platform for high-density, high-performance wireless networks.
“We are pioneering the delivery of Wi-Fi 8 across a wide range of applications, including gateways and client solutions,” said Alan Hsu, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the Intelligent Connectivity Business Unit at MediaTek. “Through our demonstrations at CES, we are showcasing our commitment to advancing next-generation wireless technologies and reinforcing our leadership in the current Wi-Fi generation.”
MediaTek’s Wi-Fi 8 solutions demonstrated at CES 2026 are a strong testament to the company’s leadership in bringing next-generation Wi-Fi technology to market. As AI-driven and latency-critical applications continue to surge, the demand for ultra-reliable connectivity is greater than ever. With the Filogic 8000 series, MediaTek is enabling this new era by powering gateways and client devices, maintaining the same industry-leading cadence as during the Wi-Fi 7 era. With over 2 billion connected devices shipped annually, MediaTek remains at the forefront of delivering dependable wireless experiences for the future of smart applications, working closely with partners such as Deutsche Telekom, Airties, SoftAtHome, Zyxel, and others.
The MediaTek Filogic 8000 series of products will cater to premium and flagship devices leveraging Wi-Fi 8 technology, with the first chipset expected to reach customers later this year.
