I'm trying to change the settings in Terminal in Win 11. When I click on Settings as shown in the tutorial I get taken to the actual settings.json file instead and it is opened in Notepad. It is located here
C:\Users\BobD\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsTerminal_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\settings.json
I'm trying to set up Terminal but I don't want to do it the risky way by directly editing the settings file. How can I make it just open a Settings window? thanks, Bob.

Is there a way to change the name to actual "command prompt" instead of "windows terminal" when we right click the start menu? I remember there was a setting for that in windows 10 settings, like in the below picture..

Also do you know how to change the same when we right click? There is a an entry "Open in windows terminal" in the right click menu, how do we change it to "Open in command prompt" ?

I kindly ask if it is possible to set prompt as default instead of terminal via keyreg.
I would like to include this feature in the ISO.

You can set default prompt behavior (which one opens when you run CMD via registry). Is that what you are trying to do? Or simply to switch it on the menu?

Just in case, these are the keys to change which terminal opens when running CMD:

Batch:

Windows Console Host
REG ADD "HKCU\Console\%%Startup" /v DelegationConsole /t REG_SZ /d "{B23D10C0-E52E-411E-9D5B-C09FDF709C7D}" /f

For NEW Console host as default, add this additional key (For LEGACY set the value from 1 to 0)

When I open a bat or cmd file it always starts with Terminal, I know you can disable this manually by acting on the settings and set the old prompt.
I would prefer to have this set by default by entering the registry key in the ISO, for this I have to enter the "Windows Console Host" key group?

Yes, Windows Console Host. Use all 3 top keys. ForceV2 set to 1 will allow ctrl+c/ctrl+v and support ansi

The key location is different in the ISO i believe you will need to import \Users\Default\NTUSER.DAT as HKCU doesnt exist in the ISO

(ignore below if you are putting these values in by hand)
If you are automating this, when you load the hive and name it, lets say tmp_default, the keys would need to be changed from HKCU\ to HKLM\tmp_default before importing

Possibly I could put a RunOnceEx script, in the ISO,
and when you install and type in the user name it would activate the registry key.

I detected a strange behavior in the script, possibly a syntax error.
1- With the direct registry key (file.reg) the key is applied.

For batch script, try escaping "%" with "%%".

Ctrl + H > Replace "%" with "%%" > Replace all.
