Change icon of Microsoft Edge?

Windows 11 Professional (not the cut down rubbish)
My Microsoft Edge icon has failed, I see a blank piece of paper. I tried to change the icon of the shortcut in the normal way, but when I go to the properties of it, Windows stupidly takes me to the internet settings of the whole computer, despite me asking it to change the properties of an icon of an individual program, in this case a browser. How do I change the icon for this program?

The Properties of Edge on Win11:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --profile-directory=Default

Might check the Tutorials, think there's a post about reinstalling Edge.

And don't be concerned about Program Files (x86) part, Win11 still works the same as Win10 but just doesn't have an x86/32-bit version for installing.

Right-click the icon on the Taskbar, right-click Microsoft Edge, click Properties.

EDIT: might have been misleading, you don't edit the icon but the Properties is where the icon can be changed. The default icon is usually in the .exe file that runs a program.

Does the icon show ok here, C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge then open the application folder?

Yes! I have deleted the shortcut from the start menu and made a new one to it. I guess an update changed the path somewhere. Thanks.

You could also have dragged the icon from the all start list to the desktop but all's good now (y)

It's broken in there too, that's where it was getting it from for the most recently used apps. Only the shortcut I created myself from the exe file is correct.

The most recently used items is the best invention ever. Not sure why MS ever removed it. I have put it back with startallback. I just click start then the app I want. Virtually never have to go elsewhere and hunt for it, since I set it to display 15.

I use a proper taskbar, I put it back the old way. A running program should be a long tab on the taskbar, with the name of it and the document open or perhaps the number of new messages in email written in text. Icons should only be used to start the program, if at all. I prefer to use the start menu, because that's what it's there for. This is my taskbar and start menu. The most used programs are in the start menu, in order of how often they're used. The taskbar shows running programs. The modern way doesn't easily show you if a program is running or not! To make it like mine, get "startallback". $5 to buy, or just leave it in fully functional nag mode.
