OS
Windows 11 Pro 25H2 Version 10.0.26200 Build 26200
In Windows 10, when I plugged in an external HDD, it would open to show folders as that is how I had set it to do.
If I then clicked on the up arrow, the "This PC" view was shown, where I could see the Discs, Partitions & HDD's I have plugged in.

In Windows 11, the up arrow takes me to the Desktop.

How can I change that to be the same as it is in my Windows 10?

By default, File Explorer opens to Quick Access. If you’d rather have File Explorer open to This PC, on the ribbon, select See more (…) > Options > Open File Explorer to. Then select This PC > Apply.

I have had it set to This PC for more than a year. Just now I changed it to Quick Access, apply & then changed it back to This PC, apply, but it makes no difference. I have learned to live with it.

All I do now to get back to showing the Discs, Partitions & HDD's I have plugged in, is click on This PC in the left side plane.

Sorry I couldnt help you more. However look up the file explorer One Commander. Its free, Ultra modern, Incredibly Customizable, continually updated and is the best out of say..30 replacement file explorers for windows. You can find posts and people talking about it on this site.
