I'm going to clone / copy the 500Gb C drive in my laptop to another internal 2TB drive, so what do I need to do with the new drive after I install it and before i start the cloning process?

Well, it is kind of a given that drive needs to be initialised. Most come preformatted as NTFS.

That's strange. I've never had a new HDD or SSD that was preformatted with anything - they have always been 100% unallocated space and Macrium Reflect has always cloned partitions to the new unallocated HDD or SSD without having to do any initialization of the new drive. External USB drives - preformatted yes; but new internal drives, nothing but unallocated space.

Yeah - you are right. I was confusing internal and external drives.
