Solved Comcast email to Yahoo mail migration

With this migration and the problems I've read about I think an Email backup program would be wise to do now.

Has any user here used at Windows forum used MailstoreHome ? MailStore Home - Free Email Archiving for Home Users

It's free and seems to fill the bill for me

My system specs are up to date

Marking it solved but not really - no one here has used it. So I took the plunge and installed, not for those unfamiliar with things like ports IMAP and POP3.

I have never needed anything like that. I have emails backed up going back to the 1990's including my outbox and address I dont even have any more. It's as easy as just backing up any other file folder and I can read my emails even if the app is not installed on my computer as it works in portable mode

These tools are a dime a dozen. If you use Outlook you don't need any tools. Export the mailbox as a PST, add the PST in outlook and you have access.

Yeah, but The bigger issue Is that the migration will give us a very inferior email service. To me. Yahoo is synonymous with lots and lots of spam and crap junk email. Much worse than Comcast. It's too bad that Comcast is abandoning email. But. that is not the answer. The question is which email service instead of Yahoo. And I don't think it's going to be Gmail because of the complete lack of privacy, and I want to emphasize, that with Gmail.

I get less junkmail from Yahoo than any of my other accounts and my Yahoo address is the only one that's not been involved with a data breach. And it's free but they do try to convince you to pay for premium service but I do not notice any difference. I get a lot of spam from Gmail accounts but not much goes TO my Gmail address. I think we get junk because of who has our address not because of the provider. I gave my address to an insurance agent last year and the next day I was getting unrelated spam every day for about a month from different addresses. Luckily it diminished and seems to be completely gone now. Just give one politician your email address and they will ALL be spamming you. Some legitimate business wont let you unsubscribe. They have the option but it has no effect

The opposite of my experience over a whole bunch of years now. I have had a "throwaway" Yahoo email address for those situations in which I didn't want to give a website my primary address. Every so often I log into Yahoo via the web and clear out tons and tons of spam and crap.

I also have a Gmail address so I can use various Google services. Never get any spam in that account. Go figure.

true on both counts.

Cox converted to Yahoo e-mail last year. Years ago I stopped using Cox's e-mail and use one from a commercial e-mail provider so I wasn't concerned about the migration. I don't get any e-mail on my Cox/Yahoo account except spam. Lots and lots of spam; most of it egregious, as if they don't have any spam filtering at all.
