My computer freezes randomly.
It often happens when I'm playing games or watching videos.
It also happens when I'm just browsing the web.
There is a buzzing sound from the speakers and it freezes.
After it freezes once, it may not happen again that day.
Occasionally I get a BSOD, but more often than not it just freezes.
About three months ago, I initialized my computer twice.
It hasn't frozen since then, but recently it has started freezing again.

Today BSOD error happened because of Stornvme. sys driver

Stornvme. sys, a Microsoft Win64 EXE driver file, has been reported to cause a blue screen issue on your PC. Hardware issues and incomplete software updates are known to corrupt the stornvme. sys file. You can resolve the BSoD crash by a malware scan and restoring your PC to a previous restore point. It is also known as a Microsoft NVM Express Storport Miniport Driver file (file extension SYS), which is classified as a type of Win64 EXE (Driver) file.

I would execute Sfc /scannow command and execute Chkdsk C: /f command.

Update device drivers.

Update Windows 11.

Scan for malware infections.

Use crystal disk info to view connected storage drives health.

You should uninstall The Vgk. sys is a vital file that is associated with the Vanguard anti-cheat engine. Most of the BSODs are caused by the issue related to vgk. sys. The most common way to fix it is by updating Windows and reinstalling the Vanguard anti-cheat.

Since the freezing began, my drivers and Windows have always been up to date.
I ran a full scan with Microsoft Defender and no problems were found.
I used Crystal Disk Info and both disks were normal.
I ran those two commands.
I reinstalled Vangard.

If the BSOD error happens again, this time uninstall Vangard because this was the app given the error message.

I checked with ASUS's ez update but there was no update.
When I contacted the manufacturer before, I was told that a special bios was used and a bios update was not possible.

The longer the monitoring the better > aim for one week

It's best to test the new driver and upgraded BIOS first as this is/was predominantly hangs / freezes.

It's been about five days, and the freezes still occur.
It was fine for the past two days, but today was particularly bad.
When I check the event log, I can clearly see that a Windows Update was performed automatically just before.
If I start it manually and update it, the freezes become less likely to occur.
This symptom has been occurring ever since the problem occurred.
Even when a blue screen occurs, it often freezes midway through, and it rarely remains in a dump file.
Once it stabilizes, I can continue using it from there until I turn it off.

There computer has had recurrent BSOD.

The last collected mini dump file was on Sun Jun 16 19:24:09.545 2024 (UTC - 5:00)




1) Make free or pay backup images and save them to another disk drive or the cloud

(Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.)





2) Create a new restore point:





3) Read this tutorial on Windows Driver Verifier (WDV):



Plan to run WDV for 48 hours with various customized tests



Start the tool with these settings:

a) test all non-Microsoft drivers

b) test no Microsoft drivers

c) start the testing with the 3 customized tests in the TF link



Each time the tool is restarted if there is no immediate BSOD then open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

verifier /querysettings

Post a share link.
