Confused By Office Messages?

Hi everyone,

ATM I have a Microsoft 365 subscription. I bought a copy of Office 2024 outright, so I have cancelled the subscription. The subscription expires in about 2 weeks. I uninstalled MS 365 and installed 2024.

Occasionally, I get popup notifications saying my subscription will end soon. I am worried about losing my data (particularly OneNote) and am concerned my copy of Office 2024 will be uninstalled.

Can anyone comment? This is worrying me.

I'm suspecting the uninstall of the subscription version was incomplete, and/or not done properly.

How was it done? Did you install 2024 first, then uninstall 365?

I uninstalled Office 365, rebooted and installed 2024.

You possibly need to unlink Microsoft 365 from your Microsoft Account to stop the subscription notifications.

I've done some searching and tinkering but I cannot work out how to do this.

• Login to your MS Account
• Select Subscriptions => Manage

• Select 'Cancel Subscription'

I believe I have already done that. Anyway, when I try to do the above I get -

In the event someone has the same issue, I fixed it by following the below instructions

I'm fairly sure that OneNote is available as a stand alone - separate from MS Office.
I have just cancelled my MS Office subscription. I then received this email:

"Your Microsoft 365 Family recurring billing has been turned off

Your Microsoft 365 Family subscription has been cancelled and will expire on March 15, 2025. After this date, you'll lose access to the latest AI-powered Microsoft 365 apps, 1 TB of cloud storage, and more. If you've exceeded your Microsoft storage quota, you won't be able to send or receive email in Outlook.com and you won’t be able to upload, edit, or sync new files (such as Camera Roll) to your OneDrive."

As you can see, I can continue to use MS Office 365 until the date the subscription would have been renewed.
You will definitely not lose any files you have made using MS Office, unless they are in the cloud. So use the time before your subscription expires to move anything you want from the cloud to your computer.

I have moved to SoftMaker Office NX Universal, which does everything I need at half the price of MS Office family and friends. (And includes AI but not in your face.)
