Microsoft Windows 11 Pro (64-bit) Version 24H2 (Build 26100.4061)
I have a ASUS Prime H610M-A WIFI D4 motherboard currently with a Intel® Ethernet Connection I219-V - Version 12.19.2.61.

I note that there is an update to v30.1 which should be compatible with my current ethernet driver.

I have tried, via downloading the Complete Driver Pack and running the install, to update my Ethernet Driver to the latest version.

The Install appears to complete, however my ethernet version remains at 12.19.2.61.

Am I doing something wrong, or should I remove the current driver prior to updating?

Many thanks

If really concerned I'd uninstall the device in Device Manager, REBOOT and usually Windows will pick up a driver. Then use Device Manager and check for updates. Also involved may be the 3 folders in C:\Windows\System32.

Was your net not working properly? Why did you want to update the driver?
Generally I find that if there is a compatible intel net driver available for my board, it will be in;
Windows Update / Advanced Options / Optional Updates
If I don’t have include drivers with updates checked.

Hi,
My internet connection is working perfectly, however I thought that if there was a 'new' driver it may be a good idea to update.
I do, however, believe in the philosophy that if it ain't broke, it doesn't necessarily need fixing!
Thanks for your input.

KInd Regards

Nigel

That driver is the last update on the Asus site for your board, from 2024
Careful what package you try installing. There may be a later driver available but you need to ensure it’s the right one. There are driver update threads in here but I don’t know how they work or how to ensure they’re the right drivers for your board.

I just wait till Intel offers one in my optional updates.

Just as with the Intel WiFi and Bluetooth driver packages, the driver package for Ethernet contains drivers for multiple different models. There are not necessarily updates for all drivers, but the package is a new version because something was updated, not necessarily the drivers used by your system.

The bottom line is that not seeing a bump in the version for your specific device is totally normal.

That is because the Windows driver is the same driver version that you already had installed.

The "Complete driver pack" just means they have packaged up various drivers for other OSes and indeed other chipsets.

If you had looked more closely at that "non update package" you would see that the Windows driver is dated from Dec 2023.

Just wait for ASUS or Windows updates, far less wasted effort.
