CoPilot in Outlook 2016


I'm running Office Professional LTSC 2024 and also have the CoPilot bauble, it never used to bother me until i stumbled on this thread, now i want it gone.

I am working a similar issue with some reddit users. No clear picture yet of how the Copilot button is being implemented, what Office/Outlook versions it shows up in, or any way to get rid of it.

Best anyone has found is to disable connected services. (As mentioned above). Sometime that makes it just a static icon. But it still doesn't go away.

Beyond that, all I can suggest is you punch the "I have this same problem" button and subscribe to this Answers Thread. Then wait for a miracle (Microsoft actually provides a fix).

Any brave soul out there who is having this problem who could do a ProcMon trace on Outlook startup and look for any possible clues? (Registry settings, DLL's loaded).

I can't do it, I don't have the Copilot button. My Outlook is too old.

i believe Microsoft are preparing the world for copilot whether you want it or not
this is just a way of getting everybody used to coplilot being there.

its in all Outlook Classic from 2016 to present that i can tell. and there is not (yet*) any way to remove it. i skimmed the reg and couldnt locate it either

i believe that is because copilot is online only and connects to server/data centres once online
therefore copilot doesn't need to be installed on to the system, hence the absence of anything installed on the system.

Microsoft are finding out that many users are disabling or removing copilot on there systems
therefore the move to have copliot connected online only which makes it difficult to disable unless you use
software that is not Microsoft based or copilot enabled ie. for email Thunderbird instead of Outlook.

they are just my thoughts only.

you can remove the "share" and "sign in" on office products though.. not to mention i have FULLY removed copilot (and blocked it completely prior to removing), so it has no shred of ever being on my system aside from this outlook dropdown.. which does nothing, but is ugly...
this addition, that was not there... at least not 2 builds ago... will be able to be removed. just have to figure out its location

What if you just sign out from Microsoft Office? Just don't connect with your Microsoft Account in Word, Excel etc. Would that get rid of Copilot?

What keys in Registry or otherwise Copilot detects to verify your computer is compliant? What if you faked those settings so as not be compliant and leave you alone?

EDIT: I wasn't using Microsoft Outlook (Classic), so I setup my Google account to test it. Yes, there is Copilot icon top right, but you can just ignore it. If I find any way to hide it I will post back.

Apparently the method mentioned in Google (go to Options, Copilot, disable) doesn't apply to latest versions. There is no such option. I guess we will have just to ignore it. It doesn't have any functionality yet anyway/

What about Winaero Tweaker? I know it tweaks Windows, but it might also tweak Microsoft Office, not sure. Download it and see if there is any relevant setting.

This POS started appearing yesterday in my Office 2024 Outlook classic as well now.

The button is visible but does nothing - yet.

And there are NO settings within Outlook (or any other Office 2024 app) to address Copilot in any way
