I am currently using Window 11 Pro 23H2 22631.2792
This may have been discussed before, but is there any way to get Copilot to work on a Local Account.
If it is possible could somebody explain how ??

You can access copilot in Edge by clicking the funny blue icon just to the right of the three dots in upper right corner of screen.

The on/off toggle switch for the Windows Copilot icon on the taskbar is in settings>personalization>taskbar

Do you see both of these on your system?

Yes I can open Copilot from Edge, but it is not in the Taskbar settings ( only when logged in to Microsoft account does it appear )

Some of my machines got Copilot with their local account without me having to do anything. For others they didn't get Copilot. For those I've have some success in turning Copilot on by switching my local account to a Microsoft account then, when Copilot was on their taskbar, switching back to a local account. Copilot remained available for the local account.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Ah, I found something. It seems co-pilot preview is not available in all areas. Here is a MS article dared 12/1 listing the regions where it has been released.

Hi All
I've tried all I can think of and various suggestions including logging in and out of microsoft account to local account but still not there on local account
It was there when it was first became available but disappeared after last windows update
Only available now on microsoft account

Without ever having changed any settings concerning Copilot on any machine, all three of my machines do not have Copilot in the taskbar in their respective local accounts, and all three have Copilot in the taskbar if I go into my MS account from any of the three.

I would add to what I said above, that I had thought my local accounts had the Copilot icon in the taskbar but after checking just now for the above post it turned out not to be the case. Still, I think Microsoft is likely working on getting Copilot on all accounts for our machines and I will now watch for that when the next Update is released I think in January.

Well, this is too odd considering what I said in my last post. Afterward, I was in Settings>Home and saw under Windows Update "Attention needed." I clicked on it to find there was an update "2023-11 Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057)" and after restarting there is the Copilot icon sitting in the Taskbar! Microsoft read my post!

I should add this is a new build and may have missed this update prior.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

I now have Copilot in a local account also on this new build after WU found another update to install. Hit and miss I guess on whether someone has it in a local account or not. Of the update just installed by WU Microsoft says, "On Windows consumer devices, this update helps remediate smooth functioning of Windows Update," and nothing concerning Copilot.

This Copilot being in a local account or not is flaky. The local account on my new build I spoke of above no longer has Copilot after the KB5033375 update. I guess the preview on the Copilot icon to Microsoft means peek-at-you; now you see it, now you don't. Ha!
