To make a long story short, i run weather software in a windows 11 VM and i just need to copy it's data folder daily in cause of a crash etc the folder is only 400MB.

I plan to use Task Scheduler to shutdown the software run a backup of just the weather folder then use Task Scheduler to open the weather software again.

Any ideas? I just want to copy the data folder not looking to sync changes.

This might help. Save it as a batch file (e.g., backup.cmd), and use it in your scheduled task. It should create a folder in the destination folder, with a name based on the date and time.

Batch:
@echo off

REM Set a timestamp based on the date and time.
set timestamp=%date% %time%

REM Replace some characters that might cause issues.
set timestamp=%timestamp:.=%
set timestamp=%timestamp::=%
set timestamp=%timestamp: =-%
set timestamp=%timestamp:/=-%

REM RoboCopy FTW!
robocopy.exe "C:\Path\To\Source\Folder" "C:\Path\To\Destination\%timestamp%" /mir /r:2 /w:5

Karen's Replicator

You can set it to a schedule, and assign it multiple "jobs".
You can use it to copy anything from a folder, up to a partition. :-)

It might be able to copy just a file... but I've never tried that.

Here's the Settings page...

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
As Ghot suggests, Karen's Replicator I use it daily.
There is also Cobian Reflector...
.https://www.cobiansoft.com/cobianbackup.html.
I use it to back up my Weatherlink and Cumulus data daily.
Both cheap at twice the price

Yes i use Cumulus, i put it in a VM and just want to save the data! They say you should close Cumulus before saving the data do you close yours?

I'm using Cumulus MX btw.

David, no i just run Cobian Reflector on a schedule and forget about it.
I have Cumulus MX and also the older version 1.9 as it does monthly averages better. I can't run both at the same time though.
My Weatherlink is connected to a Meteobridge and Cumulus(s) drags the information from there.
