I'm trying to recreate in Windows 11 the same experimental environment I had in Windows 10. So far I've got the usual suspects: Apache 24, PHP, MySql, Wordpress 6.8. Configured hosts, httpd.conf, httpd-vhosts.conf, mysql database & user/password. Named the site wpcreek. I can ping it. .\httpd -t says Syntax OK. Turned off firewall for private network. Rebooted.

In Chrome, however, trying http://wpcreek yields "This site can’t be reached". Surely there's something simple I've missed. Any idea what?

@Josey Wales : https:// provides the same going-nowhere results. Firewall on or off no difference.
@Spunk : that might be handy if I was looking for Whistlepig; too bad I'm not.

What is the exact web address you created?
If it is wpcreek.com it is already being used as you can see.

The exact address (as far as Apache is concerned) is wpcreek. I can ping wpcreek. The local installation is in g:\workspace\wpcreek. That's how httpd-vhosts.conf knows where to look.

Changes since made:
Set apache as service. Assigned server name to be wpcreek. Turned off private firewall. Error is now

I've got to sign out for the day. See you all later. Thanks for all your help.

And Windows Network Diagnostics find nothing. All the networking for this issue is all inside the box.

Issue resolved. I should not have modified httpd-vhosts.conf before completing the wordpress configuration. Which means, amongst other things, that I did not abide by RTFM. Another dope slap provided.
