I commented on this post. If a person does create a static IP on a windows 11 home computer, it would seam that computer would not be able to weasel out of being forced into seeing shares or have its drive shared ?? Right ? Then under network address on the credentials manager I could put that IP address.

Then I could force the share to show up by using the net stop FDResPub net start. if we have a static IP I could put that IP in the box above that says internet network address ? Or is this box above only for when I have a server ? This is a local peer to peer lan network with no server that I am working with.

You could do static IPs or DHCP reservations. If you go with static addresses make sure they are addresses outside the DHCP scope otherwise you will potentially run into conflicting address assignments.

Why allow a specific IP address to access a shared resource and not use the computer name? This will allow access to the computer irrespective of the current IP address. You can also allow access to a specific user on the host computer so you can access the shared resource from any computer using the host credentials, such as hostname\username and then use the respective password.
