Deleted emails in New Outlook still downloading to iPhone

I've been using New Outlook for about a year, but recently, emails I delete are still downloading to my iPhone hours later. The emails are showing in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook.

I thought IMAP deleted emails from all devices when they were deleted from any single device.

I'm sure this is a recent change in behavior.

IMAP mimics. If you have email in any particular folder on the server, it will reflect on your devices.
Delete them from the bin folder in any one device, all bin folders on ALL devices will be emptied. Same for any folder.

But all deleted items from any folder go to the bin, until you empty the bin.

Agree, but although they're in the Deleted Items in Outlook, but remain in the Inbox of my iPhone showing "unread" and must be deleted there too!

Check your phone settings thoroughly. Perhaps your provider is slow? But it would seem like a phone issue.

Thanks antspants, but I have the issue with both iPhone & iPad, and as I said, it's just a recent problem. It also occurs with my gmail account and local ISP email addresses, so not likely to be a slow provider. I deleted and re-entered the email accounts in Outlook to no avail, and set the iPhone to manual fetch. When I fetch it then picks up any emails I've deleted from Outlook, and I have to delete them from the phone.

It's most likely a sync issue due to delay. If it ever happens to me I drag my email app screen down to refresh the page.

I am seeing the same thing on my Android Samsung Galaxy S26. Emails I deleted from Outlook on my desktop computer, are still showing unread the next day on the Android version of Outlook.

If you want, open the app -> go to Settings -> Help & Feedback -> Send Feedback
and tell them what you're experiencing in the app.

Re-link the Account on phone: On the phone, go to Settings > Accounts, select your IMAP account, choose Manage, and remove it. Re-add it to reset its folder-mapping permissions on Microsoft's sync servers.

Thanks pepanee, I've sent feedback, and the email accounts are Gmail and my ISP, so neither are on Microsoft's server. I've moved back to Classic Outlook until New Outlook has been properly sorted. It's got lots of other issues, linking calendars with my iphone is another.

With New Outlook they are, so pepanee´s suggestion is well worth trying.

That alone is the main reason i choosed eM Clinet as my Outlook Classic replacement.
