Did you see that people have cloned the Adobe suite with AI?

I could be all wrong here. As an Adobe Photo Plan subscriber, I use Lightroom Classic as my daily driver software for cataloging, editing, and outputting (email, etc) pictures. Lightroom is quite complex, and the forums have lots of threads about bugs, issues and misunderstandings, etc. Unless the AI implementation is that good, and has been A/B tested thoroughly, I doubt many people will switch. The subscription is stupid cheap for what you get. In addition to all the different flavors of Lightroom, you also get Photoshop, which is even more complex than Lightroom.
My son has the same subscription and we felt the same. He was using the industry standard tools and learning a skill that could be useful later down the road.

For many though, you lost them at the word subscription.

I guess that Adobe doesn't want to develop for Linux for several reason. Main reason is likely additional subscribers. Second is which distro and release of Linux. Adobe is very particular about reproducing errors. And if there is an error attributable to Linux and not the Adobe program. who is responsible for fixing that error?

Also my impression is that Adobe (at least for Lightroom) is building out the DEVELOP module using Ai techniques. Also they just bought Topaz Labs, and now the have the difficult issues of how long to continue Topaz product development, and using Topaz code in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Linux is still to small user-base so its not economical to spend money on developers rewriting the code to run on Linux... even thogh the code is not that far away from MacOS.

Nowadays its easy.. you have Appimage, Flatpak and Snap.. so they no longer have to make several version if Debian based, Arch based etc etc..
This new TaskManager made by David Plumber or something.. he made his version running on Windows/Linux/MacOS and he do not have a whole developer team.

I have never used Lightroom, so i cant say anything about that part.
But a "clone" will not be as good as the original, there will always be features they cant figure out without the source code.
But... But people that dont have afford do buy(rent) Adobe suite and thinks GIMP suck.. they might get a better alternative :-)

It is my impression that most of Lightroom classic is written in the lua scripting language, making it portable across some OSs. All Lightroom plug-ins have to be written in lua, AFAIK.
