Through WU with Device selected from previous 23H2 (general release). How do I go back to 24H2 general release? This is what I have currently:

26100.xxxx is the general (non-Insider) version of 24H2
Anything above 26100... is an Insider build.

That screenshot says you have the 26100 feature pack. What does it say when you type winver into search and click enter?

Weird. So you don't recall instigating the Insider channel preview?

I don't know, is it because you're PC is a Workstation? I am clueless to these things and to the Insiders program and it's Windows versions.
But this is interesting none the less, as you were running a Public release prior.

26120 is the Insider Dev build. It shares a common set of system files with the public release of 24H2 26100. The insider features are turned on by an Enablement Package and the build number increased by 20.

This Enablement Package can be uninstalled to return it to 26100, and you can unenrol from Insider builds in Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Programme.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

Thanks. From what I read online you can’t go from higher to lower build. Under window insider program I can’t select anything other than between Canary and Device.

The exception to this is when the build number has been increase slightly by means of an Enablement Package. This installs more like a CU than a feature update, no system files are replaced. Because both builds share a common set of system files you can revert to the lower build just by uninstalling the Enablement package.
