Does running drive optimization/retrim delete files in the garbage collection that's on an SSD drive?

Does running drive optimization/retrim delete files in the garbage collection that's on an SSD drive?
It's the other way round.
Garbage collection consolidates free space by physically erasing the blocks marked by the TRIM command.
That prepares the drive for the next writes.
That usually happens at idle times.

There would have to be a log written post idle period which would make yet another write operation.
But I have not heard of such a log.
