I am wondering if it might be good for me to upgrade to 26H1 for the new hardware optimizations, but I don't know.

Has anyone tried it? What do you think? Are there any percieved benefits?

26H1 cannot be upgraded to 26H2. You would need to clean install. I say stick with 25H2 for now.

I'd say bad idea for the reason Scott listed. You can also just enable 26H2 with the enablement package from here if you're on build 26200-9278:

Some users report they like 26H1, and it's fairly stable. That's for a reason, it's currently an evolutionary dead end until Windows 27 arrives as a future upgrade.

If you want 26H2's new features, you can't have them until 2027. Other users say they don't care about 26H2, so it's your choice.

I'm using Server 2025 converted to a workstation here, and that works well too. Microsoft separated the 24h2, 25h2, and server updates into different numbering systems; I don't know why.

26h1 is a targeted, hardware-optimized release meant only for select new devices coming to market, specifically laptops with Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Series processors.
