Dolby Atmos for Headphones in Win 11

I have just received my new Apple Airpods Pro 3 and I listen to atmos soundtracks on my iPad via Netflix. I have figured out that iOS derives a binaural headphone mixdown from the Netflix atmos track and then sends that binaural stream to the Airpods. So far so good.
Now lets move to a Windows environment. There I have installed the Dolby Access App from the Windows store. The Dolby Atmos for headphones component of the app should do something similar to what is happening on the iPad, namely derive a 2 channel binaural mixdown form multichannel sources that can be fed to any headphone via the headphone output of the laptop.
Does anyone have insights as to how this app actually works and which combinations actually output a binaural atmos stream:
  • MS Store Netflix app / Neflix via Edge
  • MS Store Tidal app / Tidal via Edge
  • MS Store Apple music app / Apple Music via Edge
  • MS Store Apple TV app / Apple TV via Edge
  • Playing an atmos bitstream from VLC or jRiver
Is there any way to check whether in one of those setups Dolby Atmos for Headphones is actually active?
Thanks for your help.

For every possible video and audio codec you may need, also consider this one:

If you don't care about editing/converting, but only for playback of Dolby Digital files, you can also use VLC, but MPC-HC included in K-Lite is much better and expandable with codecs.

ok, I think I have been able to sort this out and everything seems to work as intended. Dolby Access needs to be present and configured and then Netflix, Tidal, Apple Music, Apple TV etc. will see the laptop as a Dolby Atmos enabled device and the Dolby Access App will generate a 2Ch binaural stream on any headphone (does not have to be Dolby Atmos enabled).
I compared the reproduction to my iPad and Airpods Pro 3 and they sound very similar when it comes to the soundscape, including height cues.
