Drag-N-Drop Behavior Has Changed

Suddenly, I notice that when I drag-n-drop a file between folders on the same logical disk. it has decided to create a shortcut instead of moving the file as intended.

I checked and the DefaultDropEffect key was not present, so I can't imagine why it's suddenly misbehaving.

Odd. It shouldn't create a shortcut like that by default. You can always use this below to specify the default drag and drop action you want though.

I checked and those registry keys were not present, which should have forced the default action. Note that this was working fine a couple days ago, and I wasn't screwing around with the registry in any way since then. I did add the keys and set them to zero, but that didn't seem to change things.

I don't really want move as the default to other logical disks, I'd just like it to work the way it's supposed to work. :-)

I can cut and paste a file with no problem, it's just the default drag-n-drop action that suddenly stopped working correctly.

The only recent update is for Defender, hard to imagine that's causing it.

I'm as somewhat of a loss as to what could have changed. :unsure:

I just tried a second computer here, no problems with that one. I thought it might be a recent update, but they both are running the same version of Windows.
