Note that listing of the new "devices by driver" combined with "show hidden devices" in Device Manager gives you similar capabilities. If you want to look at hidden devices that are not present, you also need to set a system environment variable:

Search -> "Environment" select "Edit System Environment variables" then select the "Environment Variables" button and create a new System variable called
"devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices"
and set it's value to 1. After that when you go into device manager and select "Show Hidden Devices" in the View Menu, you will also see non-present devices.

I usually create that system variable in ALL CAPS like "DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES" rather than in lowercase

Great fan of (believer in) RAPR.exe for more than a decade now. Indeed DevMgr can do some of what RAPR does, but nothing beats the "Select Old Drivers" button for quick and easy clean-up. I have NEVER had this program cause an accidental problem in all the years I've used it. Self-inflicted wounds only!

In a nutshell, from the Wiki ( lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer ):

Driver Store Explorer [RAPR] makes it easier to deal with Windows driver store. Supported operations include list/add/install/delete third-party driver packages.

Features:​

  • Support online (local machine) and offline driver store.
  • Enumerate / list all third-party driver packages in the driver store. Showing device associated with drivers. Export the driver package list as CSV.
  • Add a driver package to the driver store.
  • Delete one or multiple driver packages from the store.
  • Detect old and not used driver packages (best effort).
  • Full-fledged GUI Supports grouping / sorting on any column. Supports re-arranging of / selecting specific columns.

RAPR is great - it is not a crappy driver package that updates drivers automatically (often getting it wrong, and also adding crappy adware).

It is simply a great information tool.

I use it to check if key drivers are up to date.

One slight area of caution is if you install a driver from vendor site, newer than version in Windows update, do not use RAPR option to delete old drivers, as Windows Update then thinks you are out of date and reinstalls latest version in Windows update, even though you installed a later version, which you then have to reinstall.

If older version remains on pc, Windows update does not reinstall it again.

It is ok to use the delete old driver options if you have not installed a later driver manually. Of course, if you do this, you cannot revert to later drivers.

Rather than deleting all old drivers, I leave the current and previous ones.

Yes. Used the correct syntax. It gives an error "SafeHandle cannot be null. (Parameter 'pHandle')"

Heard back from the author. He installed 11, tried it and said it worked for him. I sent some details on version, etc.

Just tried it on latest dev build. Still doesn't work.

He was using 22000.168 for which I believe wasn't working for me either.

BTW, I just remembered it was working for me when I posted because I was on win 10 and didn't think that you guys were on 11 :rolleyes: , so, no it doesn't work for me either. I just use the DISM for now.
