Earbuds auto on and off

On my old windows 10 laptop I could have my volume button that's on the keyboard turned OFF. When I took my bluetooth earbuds (TOZO-T6) out of the case they would automatically connect and turn the volume button to ON. Then when I put my earbuds back in the case the volume button would automatically turn OFF.

My new windows 11 laptop will connect my earbuds, but it will not turn the volume button that's on the keyboard ON and OFF automatically. I have to do it manually. Is there a setting for this on windows 11?

Thanks
George

Welcome to the forum. Sorry no one has answered you. Since your earbuds are paired correctly the only suggestions I have to to

1. Run the troubleshooter Settings>System>troubleshoot>other troubleshooters
Run troubleshooter for audio as well as bluetooth.

2. go to HP support, enter your serial number, and see if there is an updated sound driver as well as a bios update.

3. Check the manual for your laptop for any pre-defined user keys that affect your situation.

I ran the troubleshooter, I looked for HP updates and downloaded the manual with no help for this. I guess windows 11 does not have this feature.

Anyways thanks for replying and Go Cowboys! ;-)

See if this might help.

Make the Tozo's your default device, using our tutorial.

(Optional) find and remove access to other devices that might be there that you don't actually need, using our other tutorial:

I suspect that having another device be the default one because BT devices connect ad hoc may be the issue here, so that Windows simply moves to another device and thus keeps information about the volume muting on a per-device basis.

Once you've done at least the first step, see if it works like you had it working in Windows 10.

Just note - Windows 11 is really, really bad, sometimes, about doing things for you, even if you don't want it to. So, even if it works now, it may go back to not working again in a matter of days, weeks, or months. Just be sure to do this again, and consider doing the second step as well, even if you already did it before - driver updates can sometimes make devices become accessible again even if you disable access to them. My monitors are notorious for doing that.

I did all of the steps on both, and I see that these steps are mainly for disabling, enabling and setting a devise to default. All of that is good for my earbuds set at default, but with earbuds connected it still won't turn mute to off and mute to on when disconnected.
