My friend (thinking I am a expert.. lol) asked me to remove the guardrail in a (iPhone) photo of Pyramid Lake

What do you guys use for editing out blemishes?

Some of the online tools are pretty good these days. Adding colour and removing backgrounds can be done well but sometimes not as good as when an installed program is used. The online tool used in the photo above has done a fair job and probably as good as an installed program could do considering the large area removed, although it is possible to see repeats of the in-fill if being exacting. It is all as your friend requested anyway.

I mostly don't edit photos that have been taken while I'm out and about. Usually prefer to keep the scene as the eye saw it. Some cropping and slight enhancements perhaps but essentially keep it to what the camera saw. For cropping, resizing and any slight adjustment my preference of program is PaintShop Pro.

Southsea and Portsmouth is frequent day out for us in the summer. I've watched the hovercraft going to and from Southsea beach. I am in the north of the county and part of the day out is the train trip from there. It's possible to think we're an overcrowded country until travelling through the miles of green countryside by train.

This is the view of Portsmouth from the Spinnaker. There's tint because of the green tint in the tower's glass construction (I have adjusted for this in the lower photo).
