Hi All,
Since the last WU is anyone having an issue with ESET Internet Security scan option not showing in the file explorer context menu? I just downloaded a file from a site and like always I like to scan it before opening it with ESET scan . I right-clicked on the file and cannot find the ESET scan option. ( I have full view of all the context menu) The option is set to "enabled" in the User Interface menu in ESET options. A reboot didn't fix it either.
Did MS add an extension to the context menu to cause the ESET scan option to disappear?

I don't know if this will help... but I still see the Bitdefender scan option on the right click context menu.

I am experiencing the same thing. I have checked the Eset settings and the user interface "Integrate into context menu" is turned on. I tried to toggle it off and back on with no change...still does not show in the dropdown menu. I did a web search regarding the issue and found some useful information at the site listed below.

Thanks for the reply Sir_George. I checked out the link you put there and done the file explorer option to fix and it did not work. I done the scannow options and repairs. It found file(s) and fixed them. I restarted computer and sadly it is the same thing . I also put in a ticket to ESET tech to see if they can come up with something also. I did not uninstall any Windows updates because I will wait a few more days before doing that for fear of totally breaking it all lol.

Try disabling context menu in settings, click OK then go back in and enable again.
That should rewrite the registry entries for the menu.

I would try this... only after disabling the context menu integration, reboot the computer.
Then enable it and reboot again.

It may be one of those... "need to reboot to apply" things.




If that doesn't work, try running the ESET installer again.
Many AV installers have a "repair" option included.

Tried all of those, only to be disappointed! This appears to be one of those issues that most likely was caused by an update and only affects some users. I believe a rollback may be the solution and I might give it a try later.

Also tried disabling context menu etc and now in the process of uninstalling ESET and reinstalling again. I will report back here later after all that is done. Greatly appreciate all your replies.

Well sadly none of that fixed the issue I have with the Context Menu :( I am still open for suggestions.

Just an update. ESET Tech support was working on my computer yesterday for 3 hrs and could not fix the issue. I sent them the log files etc this morning so we shall see if they can come up with something hopefully.

Same problem, were you able to solve it? To me the menu appears correctly for folders but not in files

Well the answer is' NO' to start with but Someone suggested a workaround which kinda works for me for now. At least I can right-click and the ESET scan option is there. I can live with the Context Menu back to default for now.
Below is what I done:

For your reference, here is the registry change you likely made to default the "show more options" as default view in WIndows 11 ( FOR YOUR SAFETY, PLEASE BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY and review these settings on your own before applying:


Open Registry Editor: Press Windows + R, type regedit, and click OK.
Navigate to the CLSID Key: Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID.

Locate and Delete the Key: Find the key named {86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}.

Right-click on this key and select Delete.

Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Restart your PC or Windows Explorer for the changes to apply

This restored my ESET Scan options for me
