zbook, never mind what I asked in my previous post. I have the Zip file that was generated after running the Log collector.

Should I attach it here on a post.

I don't use any stuff like that. I used to upload using websites for sharing files but it's been over a decade that I have not. Do you know any that is safe and you don't have to register.

The log files were cleaned.

The event viewer only had files starting yesterday.

There were no major problems in the one day log files.

There were lots of corrected hardware errors without live kernel events or BSODs.

SecureBoot : Not Enabled

Yes, I cleared the Event log a couple days ago. I checked the errors and warnings before doing it. The errors and warnings from the one day you saw is the same as what got cleaned. Basically, you have the TMP WMI 1796, you have one Kernel PnP and a few on a logger Whea.

After a couple of days of using the computer, I uninstalled HP Support assist. But I did reinstalled it after I saw the 1796 error the first time (about 5 or 6 days ago. FWIW, I believe error 1796 came with the computer or it was generated for the first time when I updated Windows on first boot.

The link for HP Support came out wrong for me but HP Support assist has what you are suggesting I install. Look below. I read about it a couple of days ago and to be honest, it is not something that I can use. I never visited the BIOS in this or any computer, and if I was to do do so, the instructions for visiting BIOS in this or just about every computer are not straight forward. It is always like, you click f10, or f2 or Esc. etc. It is bad. What you think?

Edited: Via HP Support I can check the hardware. I know there is a tool for that. I have not run it yet. This is a new computer, hardware should be OK, I think. The reliability monitor to this day, has not shown any critical, errors. The first few days I had the computer there were a few related to Windows defender (I totally ignore WD as I don't use it or depend on it for security), but they do not appear anymore.

Can you tell me anything about hose corrected hardware errors.

When there are hardware concerns having the latest HP UEFI hardware diagnostics has the most up to date tests.

There can be failure to boot Windows and this makes it impossible to download and run the HP Windows diagnostics.

To boot the on board diagnostics does not require Windows.

It is available by repetitively clicking F2 or F10 during power on.

The link that was provided has the newest version.

(It is newer (v10.8.1.0) than the download link offered on the HP website: (10.7.3.0 Rev.A)

You mean, I should install the HP UEFI hardware diagnostics tool in case of an emergency?

The link you posted, I know it by hearth already. The version for the UEFI tool when I click the link still comes up as 10.7.3.0.

All the Events you posted are the ones I am seeing and mentioned in one of my previous post that I wrote a little while ago. I have not searched for them yet. I only cared to this point to know about 1796.

Edit: My computer model comes with 2 different processors. One is Intel and the other is AMD. Mine came with AMD.

Bo

Yes.

If the computer is under warranty HP support will want to view the logs.

And having the latest UEFI hardware diagnostics is useful.

On the link that was posted HP had had a link to install the HP diagnostics onto a bootable flash drive.
It's no longer on the link.
It's best to have the latest tools for unexpected problems.

Yes, the computer is under warranty (I bought it in the US from HP) but I live outside the US. In a way is like warranty is really meaningless.

Most of my life I believed computer tuneups and tools like that are MickeyM. But I ll run the "Run hardware diagnostic" tool that HP Support has. I ll run it in a little while or tomorrow and let you know what comes up.

Before we go, answer this before we go, so you found no clue on why I am getting the 1796 error. If you see the picture in the opening post, you noticed I have both 2023 certs, so why is that error in my computer? If you have no idea, just tell me that. Thank you for your interest in helping me with this annoyance.

The error I've not troubleshooted and you can contact HP from anywhere for their support.

At the same time you can document / report the corrected hardware errors.

One of the reasons I read that could trigger the error is if Secure boot is not On. So (this is a question), you are saying that according to the V2 collected log files Secure boot is not On. Right?

I have read that Secure boot might be Off even if System information shows Secure boot as On, as it does in my computer. System information shows Secure boot as On in my computer. Also, the script created by Garlin (thank you again, Garlin) for checking the certs that I ran also shows Secure boot as On.

So what should I do? Go into BIOS where I never been and all instructions are iffy on how to get in and get out and some say don't change this or change that otherwise your computer might not boot.

On the other hand. If Secure boot is Off, actually, that would please me as perhaps that would allow me to forget about this issue. I really don't care about Secure boot. My health would not only be better as I wouldn't have to deal with this garbage but the computer would also be healthier as I wouldn't have to change things that I wouldn't know what I am doing. And regarding security loss for not having Secure boot On, there is little chance of Lotus ever hitting me and if it does, it will not steal anything. The only damage it would do is I lose the computer but that is it.

Tell me tomorrow (Sunday) what you think. And if there is a way to be certain if Secure boot is On or Off without having to go into BIOS.

You can look in Windows Security > Device Security, to see if Secure boot is on.

I have seen a suggested simple fix, disable Secure Boot in bios, save & exit, use the pc for a while then go back to bios and reenable Secure boot (save & exit).

You can look in Windows Security > Device Security, to see if Secure boot is on.

I have seen a suggested simple fix, disable Secure Boot in bios, save & exit, use the pc for a while then go back to bios and reenable Secure boot (save & exit).
Hi Paul, yes, Secure boot is On according to System information and in Windows Security > Device Security,

I have also seen what you wrote: Disabling Secure boot and after a while, enabling it back. The problem I have with that is that I have never gone in the BIOS in any computer and I could mess up things. Also, if I go into the BIOS, honestly, I ll disable Secure boot and not enable it back so I can forget about this headache that is going to be with us for a while.

Thanks

Bo
