No matter what I’ve tried, nothing seems to fix the inconsistency of the Thumbnail proportions of movie files using Explorer Gallery View. The thumbnail may be correct one time, the next time it will appear as a square, then a vertical orientated movie will appear as horizontal or vice a versa. I’ve deleted the Thumbnail cache dozens of times trying to fix the problem. The Photo App works perfectly and I don’t have any problems with it and thumbnail proportions. It’s seems something isn’t working correctly or perhaps a setting is off.
I don’t see many complaints about Gallery View, so finding a solution has been difficult. Hopefully someone's has an answer.

Sorry I can be of no help since I removed gallery. There may not be many complaints due to users just taking what 11 gives them or because others may have found out how to remove gallery from file explorer.

Personally, I don’t understand the need for the Gallery View since the Photo App works very well. It seems like something Microsoft cooked up as a gimmick without making it fully functional feature. I do have the Registry file to remove it from the side panel.

I removed gallery.
Same.
I played around with it for the first 2 or 3 Builds..., I found it to be the most screwed up aspect of the Explorer SDK!

Yes I understand… I suffer from extreme frustration as I did some programming years ago (IBM PC and Commodore 64 era). Designing a program which didn’t work correctly for all conditions and variables was unacceptable.

I don't remember if I just hid it or went all the way and removed it. I do know I never see it anymore.

Does that mean that you now understand why people strip out stuff they don't use in Windows?

It depends on what stuff is stripped out.

Uninstalling an app, disabling a service we're sure has no dependencies, or stopping something from auto-starting is one thing, but some people want to jack with the core parts of the OS in ways other than disabling . That is what I don't understand and I never will.

In my defence, I never said anything about uninstalling apps. In fact I've recommended using Revo to do just that more than once. Nor have I said I didn't change anything about 11. I've changed quite a few things using the tried and true tutorials and recommend them often. If it's something that affects the efficiency of how one works, I say go for it. If there's a change that can make how I work better, I do it. If there's a valid reason for removing something from a performance standpoint ,I stop it from autostarting if I can. If I can't I'll uninstall it.

I very rarely use the 'all apps' on the start menu so I'm not concerned by any app I don't use being there. Passive apps use no resources if one doesn't use them. For any active app I'll disable it it from autostarting. That's my way.
But if the presence of any app there does bother someone, I find nothing wrong with removing it. That's your way.
We don't all operate the same.

I wasn't trying to offend you, I just wanted to point that there can be legitimate reasons for users to want to remove something they won't use. You found Gallery useless and removed it. Some find Xbox and anything related to Xbox useless and want it removed. We may find out in time that removing either one of these features is going to cause us problems in future builds.

Just an opinion… if Microsoft truly wanted to make Gallery View work correctly, they already have the Photo App which works very well… why not incorporate its core engine into Gallery View solving most if not all of the current problems?
I’ve seen images of Gallery View in its beginning… it looked a lot like the Photo App in appearance showing small icons for One Drive or iCloud for the location of the image.
